Gas blower ban in MoCo

I'm so surprised. I thought hispanic people (most of our landscapers) were playing it super safe.

That was probably the pragmatic thing to do. I think lots of people will be removing trees in the future when faced with the added costs of leaf clean up without gas blowers. It’s a matter of economics. If trees cost too much to keep around, people are going to remove them.

I seriously doubt this logic. Tree removal costs thousands per tree.

Most are citizens.

It's wonderful, our neighbor isn't being blasted by gas blowers at 7:30 am everyday.

We have an electric blower for leaves in the fall, the electric ones are significantly quieter, just require recharging the battery.

Thank God MoCo pols are worried about gas leafblowers and banning the use of roundup to help control weeds. Meanwhile crime is out of control, the local economy has stagnated for decades, schools keep declining and they keep raising taxes for the privilege of all of this.

Amazing priorities.

They have a large vacuum truck that sucks them up at the end of the day. I'm thinking they pay between 1200 and 1500 for an all day cleanup.

They are stupid people because leaves can be left alone and they provide nutrients for the soil as they decompose. Nobody needs to pay 1000’s of dollars to avoid some free compost. That’s on them.

As if gasoline has never burned a house before. So stooooooopid.

You would be surprised how cheap it is.

We had prices on a 75 foot dead tree. It was about six foot in diameter at the base. First price was $5000. Three prices were in between $5000 and $900. We went with the $900. They were gone before we got out of bed.

-1. They are so loud. You can hear them from blocks away. Have you ever been on a call when they turn them on? Or put a baby down to nap? They are just so loud and they stink.

But all lawn mowing equipment is loud. Why leaf blowers and not mowers? They are loud and use gas.

+1 This ban is completely unscientific and myopic. In the US, gasoline powered lawn equipment accounts for around 0.3% of total CO2 emissions, less than 0.7% of total PM2.5 emissions and 4% of Total VOC emissions. Leaf blowers account for less than 10% of total emissions for gasoline powered lawn and garden equipment. Under the most optimistic assumptions this leaf blower ban will reduce emissions (in MOCO) of PM2.5 by 0.1%, and VOC emissions by 0.5%. THIS IS A VERY COSTLY POLICY, that provides basically no health benefits to county residents while burdening business owners.

How many people sit inline at the Starbucks in their big gas burning suv or the Chick-fil-A line burning gas.

Right? How does OP know it is a banned gas blower from blocks away?

There is no value to living in Moco anymore. Large swathes of it have just as much crime as the middling parts of DC, with schools that are just as bad if not worse, and the traffic is way worse than DC.

Maybe the MD economy is why the bridge is so crowded from MD to VA in the morning?

Well well well, look at these “unintended consequences“ that anybody with half a brain could see coming a mile away.

They have 20 year old illegals in middle school too. Can you imagine if your daughter has one in her class.
