I knew about cuts to NOAA and the NWD but didn’t realize the direct cuts to NOAA’s use of satellites for weather data by DoD this past week. Some PP mentioned it already. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=aP6bDmJK_MA&pp=2AEAkAIB |
^ NWS and DoD (Department of Defense) I also didn’t realize this is a permanent change after a collaboration between DoD and NOAA for over forty years. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/jun/28/noaa-cuts-hurricane-forecasting-climate?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other |
+1 this is a Texas problem, not FEMA. |
Where would it be safe? |
MAGA doesn’t need help. Texas can handle it. |
#winning Trump and his machine can make MAGA ignore just about anything, ut he can't make them ignore that their house has blown away. I'm thinking that when these disasters hit (and they will) his only option is to let no info leak out to the rest of the country about how badly an area is devastated. Gotta keep the MAGA blind, deaf, and dumb. |
The global cooling deniers need to catch up. |
You read the gleeful tone into the post. No one is gleeful. Democrats don’t like people, especially children, to be harmed. This is why democrats support funding the NWS, NOAA, and programs to feed and educate children. It is in fact MAGA and the GOP who are pro-children dying or starving. But keep creating your fantasy based on lies, your cult requires it. |
Stop pointing fingers! Texas must build their own weather service. Pretty much each state will. Elections have consequences. This is what you voted for folks. |
Some areas are considered to be much more of a climate refuge than others. And you can be sure every billionaire has access to property in a climate refuge. |
It’s Trump’s gutting of FEMA and other response functions, DOGE, and Kristi Noem’s mismanagement that is making it a Texas problem. |
Texas voted for all of that. Enjoy it Texas! |
Yet another example of GOP shortsightedness and where their ideological views are stripped naked to show how they don’t make sense. It is actually vastly more efficient and cost effective to have the federal government build, operate and manage a weather service with satellites and radars and monitors and advanced models than to leave it to states to go off and each build their own half assed weather services 50 times over. Vastly. But here we are, Making America Garbage Again. |
Nobody’s gleeful? I see plenty of Republicans gleeful over putting a cosplay clown like Noem in charge of disaster response, I see plenty of Republicans gleeful about gutting the weather service and other critical federal functions so that billionaires can get huge tax cuts, I see plenty of gleeful republicans who are more than happy to turn a blind eye to two dozen Texans dying in flash flooding if it means more coal, oil and gas money rather than cleaner, renewable technologies that would help with the weather crisis. I am so disgusted with Republicans right now. |
