It’s because people won’t vote for a party they know is lying to them when that party pretends to be the better moral good. It’s that simple. Trump lies all the time, of course, but he never pretends to be the better person. The Democrats do, but at the same time were obviously lying. |
A cognitively impaired Biden is still exponentially better and more deserving of his job title than Trump.
Also, I don't think this is a good topic for Trump supporters. Trump is looking older and loopier at the start of his term than Biden did at the end! |
Yup this and trans issues will be all over Fox News rather than the dow ticker. |
Biden was impaired from day one. He was kept in the basement because he could not be trusted to string together a coherent thought if he wasn't in front of a teleprompter.
After the election his mental decline went from bad to worse. His team, who were the ones pulling the strings, selected Kamala as an insurance policy. They knew with her waiting in the wings, there would be a lot of hesitation to remove Biden from office. The debate went off the rails because the ruse was up. The prepped him as best they could and crossed their fingers. You can blame Ron Klain. Jill Biden, and others for the 2024 election. They enjoyed the power of the presidency and wanted to hold on - even if it meant running a clearly feeble old man. Biden quickly endorsing Kamala was Team Biden's FU to the democratic elite. The ones his loyalists saw as pushing Biden out of running. Biden himself couldn't fully endorse anyone or anything. But his team stuck them with a terrible candidate that represented everything wrong with a terrible four-year stretch. |
You have a president in office, a convicted felon, racist and a convicted rapist in office who is trying to dismantle our democracy and crashing out economy and you are looking backwards to a presidency that bar and large was sucessful. The wheels didn't fall off.
The wheels have fallen off of this administration, its wheels in the first 30 days. The bus is on fire. But yes keep talking about Biden, is that some serious deflection you are attempting there, but who are you trying to convince? You made a historic miscalculation and it's going to cost you. You have about $100 dollars worth of very expensive egg all over your face. |
Lame attempt at deflection. Trump is driving the country into ruin. Are you trying to make yourself feel better for voting for him? |
His opponent was Harris, not Biden. And that was because the Dems stood up to Biden and pushed him aside. Perhaps you forgot this important detail. |
I think the issue is fair game. A lot of people close to Biden decided that their job security and their own agenda outweighed the duty of candor owed to the American people.
Those folks should not be in politics. They should answer for what they did. (Note that I do not support the Trump administration AT ALL, and also want Trump's people to answer for their own awful leadership. See how I can hold two things in my head at once?) |
What a disaster. but to be fair, there’s also Wilson, FDR and Reagan. |
Liar. He was not cognitively impaired from day one. He won all the debates against Trump except for the last, disastrous one. My DH was once at a small group meeting with Biden earlier in his term where Biden talked without notes or a teleprompter for over 40 minutes. DH said he went on too long, but he knew his policy stuff and was completely coherent. So F right off with your nonsense. |
How did Dems think he would get re-elected in that state? Did they really think him stepping down for Harris would be worse? |
Here’s the deal.
When Biden was elected, he was the person we needed in that moment. His experience, ability to work across the aisle, vast knowledge of how the world functions, etc. make him the right person. I have ZERO regrets about voting for him in 2020. But have you all forgotten how important it was to us that he choose a top-notch VP and cabinet? This is because we expected him to deteriorate during those four years, as anyone would at that age. We knew the people surrounding him would be crucial. The fact that he was allegedly “severely impaired” but his administration was accomplishing A LOT right up until the last day is proof that this worked the way we expected. What we didn’t account for is that his deterioration would keep him from realizing that he needed to keep his promise of being a one-term president. That is where it went wrong. It put the people who have always liked and respected him in a terrible position of having to either turn on him or downplay his deterioration. Nobody could stop him from running. It was still between him and Trump. And while I acknowledge Biden’s decreased mental capacity, it is NOWHERE NEAR AS BAD AS TRUMP’S! Make no mistake about that. So democrats were in this position where being honest about that would have given us Trump for sure, which obviously is much worse than an aging Biden. And so, the last minute Hail Mary was to put Kamala in. With less than 100 days to campaign and many people vowing not to vote for her simply because she didn’t primary and was thrown in (which was not in her control), she only lost by 1%. If she had a complete campaign, she would have blown him out of the water. This is not even factoring in the obvious election interference. And now we have Trump, who will be even older at the end of his term and has definitely NOT surrounded himself with the most qualified VP and cabinet. He has intentionally done the opposite. And that is the difference. |
Same. And whatever they were doing was working well. |
Decline can happen suddenly and rapidly at his age and under that stress. Timing was probably just terrible regarding a decision to run again.
We were still safer in every way under him and his administration. Trump has been unhinged and incoherent for years. |
