Do this when sniffling and coughing.

So you would rather sniffle and cough in the doctors face, on the receptionist AND on the others in the waiting room?

MAKE THAT MAKE SENSE!

Imagine getting a job as a primary care physician, nurse or receptionist and expecting to never encouter sick people. True lunacy.

WHY the... are you not using telehealth? You just prefer to share your germs with the chronically ill who now are avoiding offices because of people like you?

First of all, you're responding to a person who said she uses telehealth.

Secondly, when a person is sick, he/she should be able to see their physician. That's the whole point of having one.[b] I'm sorry you think your illness is more deserving of attention and care. You sound extremely self centered and selfish.

a) it's telehealth, not telahealth
b) how can you test for strep or flu with a telehealth visit?

DP but you can buy home strep kits on Amazon very cheap. You can also buy Covid/Flu combo tests for cheaper than a co-pay. Some telehealth providers will let you test while on camera during the visit and call in a prescription for antibiotics or Tamiflu.

It makes no sense to go in person. Also if you felt sick enough you wouldn't want to go in.

And do they sell tests on Amazon for meningitis or instructions to tell you how to self diagnose sepsis?

You sound like a baby.

You do realize there's a difference between life threatening illnesses and strep or flu, right? If you're well enough to post on DCUM, you probably don't have a life threatening illness. Feel free to run off to the doctor for every little thing if you want. I'd rather save myself time and money and not expose everyone if it's something that can be treated with a virtual visit.

Clearly they don't. They want to waste their time and money and get everyone else sick for every single sniffle they have.

Feel free to never go to a doctor ever again. No one is forcing you.

I'm not OP, but I absolutely want to be seen by a doctor when I feel that I need to. Feel free to Amazon your way to health. Or just email JFK Jr. That's probably best.

Who the hell are you to decide when OP should and shouldn't see a doctor? Get effed.

If you have meningitis or sepsis your family medicine doctor isn’t going to be able to help you either. Do you think they do lumbar punctures in the exam room?

Presumably a PCP is better trained to pick up when there is a serious problem and get the patient to the ER for a lumbar puncture - more so than some amateur relying on tests from the interwebs to rule out a couple of things

My pcp ignores everything and says I’m fine. The current thinking means I lost years of help thanks to her and the other pcps I’ve seen.

If they're all saying your fine maybe it's health anxiety that needs to be treated. Are you a hypochondriac? Maybe they're all trying to calm all your health fears.

If its covid or the flu, its a simple test at home. If you don't have health issues, its obnoxious to infect the doctors office putting those of us with health issues at risk.

I can't belive how many immature "adults" are on here who run to the doctors office for every.single. cold they get.

If you have had symptoms for a while it is a good idea to get seen by someone. I am someone who tries to power through things but sometimes you really need an inhaler or steroids. I'd much rather see my PCP who knows my medical history.

If a doctor only want to see healthy patients, he/she is in the wrong business and I would drop them as my doctor.

It's literally their job.

No one is saying that. Stop making stuff up.

Feel free to never go to the doctor again, since clearly you have adequate medical training to handle your health issues.

I know health care providers differ, but it sounds like OP is exaggerating. I make an appointment with my primary care physician, and tell them what my health issue is, if it's not an annual exam. It may be that they don't have a same-day sick appointment for me, but it's not like most doctors are telling people to stay home if they're "sick." It just may be that they can't see you right away or have deemed whatever your symptoms being reported as unworthy of an in-office appointment and told you to wait a few days or go to an urgent care if you really want to be seen ASAP.
