If the Democrats win the Congressional by-elections, they can stop it themselves. If they hold hearings and start subpoenaing the DOGE kids, at least a couple will figure out that Elon doesn't have anyone's back.

I had a family member work in first Trump administration but is not returning due to J6. Person was in a non controversial position doing policies even Obama had wanted. Career staff was blatantly uncooperative and stalled projects.

I can’t wait for the end of the Deep State nonsense. Maybe this time around career staff will actually do their jobs.

Once again for the people in the back, there is no Deep State. The first Trump administration was like this one, just much more subdued - a bunch of EOs of dubious legality and zero practicality that the career staff had no idea what to do with. Politicals who had no idea how the agencies and laws were set up and didn’t understand appropriations. No budgets passed. And the bureaucracy is designed on purpose to thwart the kind of thing that is going on now, but setting into law procedures and protections to ensure that someone doesn’t just come in and raid the treasury or some weird thing like that.

Did they ever defy a court order? All sides try silly things. Just because you don’t see people taking to the streets, are you aware of all the things that came into agencies to which the agencies said “there’s no money, so it will go on the list?”. One reason why everyone is so upset about the suspension of the DEI officers is that to meet a stupid mandate the agencies just took a bunch of people like recruiters and HR officers doing their normal jobs and slapped DEI on their job titles to check the box and changed the text on the hall posters. They were carrying out something authorized by the lawful authority. The checkbox on a hiring panel form just added a bunch of things to the list of things that we would not discriminate against (not preferential votes for).
