The other side of ED regret is the second guessing for those who didn’t ED anywhere and gambled with RD. Would they have gotten into a more selective school had they applied ED somewhere? The grass is always greener… |
Wrong. ED is for students who have an absolute top choice school and want to show that school that they will attend if accepted. It benefits the student just as much as the school. |
+1 Kids are applying to 10-15 schools , but can only attend ONE when the process is over. A strategic ED choice for a applicant's #1 option is a smart one. The NPC isn't going to magically change in RD. |
This thread is depressing for those awaiting RD decisions |
Exactly. I have to wonder why the hate for ED. No one is forced to apply ED, so if you're uncomfortable with it - don't! The people who ARE ready to commit should absolutely have that option. Every school should offer ED. |
so you've said. the rest of us disagree. enjoy Indiana - it really is good, no shade. but, shocker, not where my kid wanted to go! |
It's the striver mom who cannot handle the thought that because something - that for whatever reason - does not work for their snowflake cannot possibly be a good idea for anyone else. So striver mom does everything to put down that other thing. Here's its ED. But striver mom is everywhere. |
+1 🤣 |
Who is this annoying middle-aged loser throwing around millennial insults?? |
I'm the PP - who are you referring to? |
Very true |
Ymmv. Both mine unhooked accepted RD in T10/ivy. For true top kids they can get in to at least one of those schools. |
Does Chicago actually take that many in ED? My dc is a jr and it’s the top choice rn. I feel like it’s a high reach for everyone. |
Penn takes slightly less ED than Duke, per % of the admitted class. The difference is negligible as both are just less than half ED, but Penn is no where near Chicago taking 3/4 or more of the class through ED0(summer), 1, 2, or Hopkins with Ed1 and 2. |
Why is this egregious? Bc your kid can’t use it as RD backup? |
