Trump fires Inspectors General.

His cabinet appointments are about to start doing unethical stuff the day they show up. Also you have to give congress a legitimate reason for firing an IG which he probably doesn’t have for all of them. He is probably hoping to overwhelm every one very quickly, including congress, which seems to be working.

Exactly! This was too easy. So from my perspective, there is no legitimate reasoning which is why I think Grassley is full of shit. Again, assuming that quote in the source is remotely true.

And Trump will use military force. I’m not risking my life for y’all since yall decided to elect him.

His staff obviously knows this. So is he testing the guardrails again to see how far he can push against them before they give way? The IGs have already been fired. Who has authority to address this illegal move? Can anyone stop it? Please share what you know since most of us don’t know the law.

I suppose it will have to go to the courts. On Monday, I expect these IGs will seek preliminary injunctions. Where this gets tricky, in my mind, is who pays for lawyers to do this? Obviously, the agency won't be permitted to provide counsel or cover legal fees. Do these individuals have enough to fight? I don't see any chance they could get relief by going to any other agency or OPM, for example.

If you, or any other readers of this thread, hear about a GoFundMe for the IG’s defense, please post a link. What good is the IG law and its “protections” if the IGs have to mount and pay for their own defense? Most people can’t afford that.

Some of those IG’s were MAGA supporters. I know for a fact one of them. FAFO.

And the “moderate” Dems will work with the Republicans and turn people in.

How would he know they weren’t doing their job. The man has only been in office five days.

Exactly! I work for an IG. Ours did not get fired (yet). You can go to every single one of our semiannual reports to Congress to see all the results (cost savings to taxpayers, fraud arrests etc). We are doing our jobs. But we sometimes do them a little to well. Under the last Trump administration he almost fired my IG because we investigated one of his politicals who had engaged in fraud and we had proof. The person told us if we proceeded with our investigation, they were going to the White House. We continued. He did and Trump almost fired our IG. But he got distracted because COVID hit. So the poster that said his appointees are about to do some unethical and illegal stuff are spot on.

Heck most of the EOs issues violate elements of established laws.

But the career folks are there. And they can and will forge ahead. And Trump cannot appoint temporary people like he’s done with many agencies. The IG law passed in 2022 limits who can act.

Nevertheless, this will be a very good test to see if Congress will standup to the bully. If I were them, I’d standup on this so that independent voters (in particular) “think” there are still checks and balances. The American electorate is pretty dumb. So this kind of showing would actually go a long way when Congress lets Trump roll over them on many other things.

He violated the IG law already. What’s to keep him from doing it again? Congress isn’t going to stand up to him. It’s controlled by MAGAs who praise every illegal thing he does. We’re heading fast toward dictatorship

He is Probably going to hire MAGA loyalists to replace them who will turn a blind eye to whatever is happening.

Or just not replace them at all.

That man is going to have to explain himself to Lucifer. His old behind should not be afraid of his re-election and a Musk well funded challenger, but yet he is. The man is 91 years of age, running for his seat in 2026. That is if he doesn’t croak in his seat as he walk down the heated hallway to his final destination.

But that doesn’t work in his favor.

It’ll be very interesting to see how it is handled from a policing aspect.
