So much for cars, produce and most of what people buy at Walmart and Target. I guess their bribe wasn't enough.

And exactly what is the problem with this?

That you will pay more for everything. You think things are expensive now? Just wait.

Yes,who do you think is going to pay the 25% increase?

If you have enough money that a 25 percent increase in cost for nearly everything is insignificant to you, great for you. The problem is that some of us are already struggling and that kind of cost increase without a corresponding increase in pay will result in people who were able to meet basic needs being unable to do so.

You are not too bright. It will not be a 25% increase.

And there will be supply and demand impacts that there will be other suppliers.

Don’t fall for globalist propaganda

Please explain. No economist agrees so it would be helpful for you to expand.

Not that poster you replied to, but in general it is a good idea not to fall for the "experts" propaganda. They are almost always just paid shills and mouthpieces. Take everything they say with a huge dose of salt.

No. I like experts. If I have a problem with my car, I take it to the mechanic. If I have a plumbing problem, I seek the expertise of a plumber. I would not fly in an airplane without a licensed pilot. I would hire a lawyer to help with a legal problem. Similarly, I find it more efficient to listen to economists about the likely economic consequences of an economic policy. Also, welcome the analysis of an economist with a different conclusion. Economics is not a hard science so there is room for disagreement. But if every single economist concludes the same thing, it’s not propaganda. The world is not that well controlled or organized.

It’s no use…DCUM MAGA told us during the campaign that they hate economists. Their *feelings* guide them more than behavioral science and data.

But I thought preventing businesses from price gouging was socialism.

Well that’s my point exactly. All the socialist economies the line love like the EU love tarriffs. Free trade and illegal immigration was a Republican ideal so why are Democrats suddenly anti tarriff and anti border wall when both hurt the rich? Trump wants a heavy handed role on the economy and to manipulate the fed reserve to lower rates. He is espousing some very democratic socialist/populist ideals

That is not what you said. That was not your point. You have no point other than to fill this thread with complete nonsense so that the truth gets buried and people stop responding. That's your goal. That's what you're paid to do. You claim you want the American economy to boom, you want more money in your pocket. Trump's policies aren't going to do that. That's the story. That's the end. Period. You can continue to obfuscate, whatabout , derail, all you like but it isn't going to change that fact.

Bipartisan border bill had language to deal with fentanyl but Trump killed it.

Increased prices decrease demand which then decreases prices

Well if you voted for him because of high prices, those prices aren't going to go down, they are likely to go up

Most voters for him because democrats abandoned US workers to favor urban elites that demand cheap crap built by slaves

That’s right! Only urban elites shop at Walmart. Everyone in the south shops at local boutiques with handmade dresses, hand carved tables, and organic produce from small farmers.

Damned Democrats!

We need to shout it from the rooftops - we warned tariffs would increase costs and disrupt the market and hurt businesses

We need to hold the media accountable to report accurately about the causes and effects.

Good way to get it done. Quit giving them money also. Of course all the deepstaters in bed with the drug cartels will reeee.

LOL. Cute that you think that will happen. Who do you think pays the tariffs?

It’s hilarious that libs understand that tariff costs are passed along to the consumer, but think corporate taxes stop at the company bottom-line.

The cognitive dissonance is astounding.

They also think carbon taxes, regulations, and 15 dollar minimum wage hasn’t increased the cost of groceries and fast food. They don’t understand economics. It’s all passed to the consumer so tarriffs are no anomaly. Trump, if anything, because he’s such a fierce patriotic negotiatior will ensure no one raises a penny on American consumers in income taxes or investments and consumer price index. We are going to see taxes, prices, interest rates, and inflation go down and it’s going to be beautiful and a boost for the country

God. I need popcorn for this one. LOL. Are you smoking something that came across the border?

So how much did products go up in trumps first term, after e apocalypse was predicted by globalists ?

And when did Biden repeal these evil tariffs because of they damage they did?

This didn't answer the question.

+1. Please answer PP. You are making a lot of claims in this thread with no support. Were you the same PP demanding links from the OP?

These proposed tariffs would violate the trade agreement Trump negotiated and signed with Mexico and Canada in 2020:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2024/11/25/trump-tariffs-china-mexico-canada-percent/

Both countries will almost certainly retaliate with similar tariff's if Trump goes through with this, since it would render the trade deal null and void.

It's also different then what he said he'd do during the campaign. He is so disorganized and random. He probably had a conversation with someone about fentanyl and someone else said they could maybe use tariffs to address it and then just posted this out without vetting it or discussing it with his policy staff.

He is so bad at this job, even setting policy aside, I cannot believe he's been re-elected when he actually hates being president and doesn't know how to do it effectively at all.
