And forget about the OB/GYNs pulling out of states where they will go to prison for honoring their Hippocratic oath. |
TY for clarifying. These wild claims of how this works is maddening, especially for someone who is criticizing on one hand, then taking it for themselves or their relatives on the other. |
And that's what Harris proposed - Medicare would now cover some forms of home care in order that families did not have to divest all their assets in order qualify for it as they would on Medicaid. |
That's when a state decides to expand. The feds are not on the hook. Why are you telling lies? |
So basically, and inheritance preserver. |
^AN inheritance, not "and" |
Maybe allowing the spouse to live in dignity even though their loved one needs care. |
We pay a huge amount into Medicare. We pay via taxes when we are working then we are forced to take it and pay premiums and copays and supplements. Yes they should cover it. |
Talk to an eldercare lawyer. We were able to keep my very difficult MIL in her very nice facility in Arlington using medicaid with his help. |
Well to be fair, someone has to pay the bills. Nursing homes cannot just run on thin air. So patients that don't pay their bills will be discharged to family members. The issue is that we need all of our medical care to stop being "for profit"---it's a service that everyone in society will benefit from. It should be managed much better |
You could get MediCal (Ca version of medicaid) 30+ years ago if you were a green card holder. As it should be. My IL did, despite never having worked in the US. I Figure we paid in more than enough in our lifetime for whatever family got (they were only here for 7 years), given that we likely will never see anything as the programs are gutted |
Obviously, given that most of them can't put 2 and 2 together to understand that the "Obamacare I hate, I don't have Obamacare" and the "ACA I love cause I finally have health insurance I can afford" are the same thing. |
And many of those who would benefit most from that voted yet again against their best interests. |
Well it is cheaper to provide basic services at home rather than institutionalizing them. If 2 hours of care 3-4 days per week allows an elderly person to remain safely at home, that is much more cost effective than a nursing home/assited living |
They have to cut to pay for some of the continued and new tax breaks. Cutting feds is a drop in the bucket. I am sorry they have to cut benefits. |
