The source that I provided included its methodology. Just because you don't like the messenger, doesn't mean the message isn't accurate. Feel free to provide an actual critique of the data, if you have one. The left-leaning Guttmacher Institute has a study that is getting pretty old now (so that's why I didn't initially link to it) showing that only 7% of women cited their health or the fetus's health as a reason for getting an abortion (https://www.guttmacher.org/journals/psrh/2005/reasons-us-women-have-abortions-quantitative-and-qualitative-perspectives). It bothers me that so many pro-abortion people paint abortion as something that most women do due to healthcare purposes, when in reality, the vast majority of women have abortions because they don't want a baby. At least be honest about it. |
Fine. You win, PP. Ban those magical abortion in the 9th month outside of risk to the mother. How about we focus on the vast majority of cases that are now prohibited in red states, hmmmm? |
I say that you are fear mongering and exemptions exist for the reasons you mention. |
It is not extremely rare and it is not always for a catastrophic reason. As has been shown over and over on this board, third trimester abortions have been had over things like fights with a boyfriend to financial issues to delay in seeking care. No matter how much you want what you say to be true, it simply isn’t. |
Some families might not want to go another 15 weeks with a doomed pregnancy that is only going to lead to death and pain because of a lethal disorder. Who are you to decide for them? |
Not concerned in the least. |
You go after the abortionist not the woman. This isn’t rocket science. |
I'm sure you're not. You're probably living in a blue state and complaining about high taxes while enjoying all of the benefits afforded to you by Democrats. |
You are not going to trick people into being convinced that abortion is as important as oxygen. |
You simply cannot impose your will on women and force them to give birth. You can try and succeed in some cases, but you can't take away a fundamental right. This has always been the case. Abortion has been illegal before and it just drives it into the back alley. Abortion rights have actually increased after Roe was overturned. This battle will rage on until the laws reflect that reality. |
Let me guess: these particular patients are low income, with low educational levels and poor future prospects for employment, and do not have stable relationships with committed partners, right? I am saddened by the prospect of women using abortion as after-the-fact birth control 10+ times and refusing prenatal vitamins, but I’m also saddened by the idea that abortion bans might also lead to these women having twice as many children whom they don’t really want and are ill prepared to care for. |
+1 They know the procedure wouldn't be widely accepted if they were open and candid about the reasons. A poster who only references her uterus rather than her growing baby is attempting to soften the harsh truth. |
Oh sorry, I was a NP making that comment that the data disproves Trump’s claims. I’m not the one who posted the study. I support Roe. |
Wrong. They are allowed everywhere. There is not a single state where these are illegal |
Are you a prophet? Who knows what is going to happen...I don't know, you don't know. Just because you want something really strongly doesn't mean it is inevitable. |
