Hello? Lower inflation now means diddly squat without wage increases. What is the delta? |
Wages are way up under Biden. |
Because the 90% of us that can't escape their political bubbles long enough to find real truths prefer not to accept truths that don't fit the narratives of their chosen bubble. |
So are they comparable to inflation over the past several years? Are wages keeping up for everyone? |
More likely there are secret Trump voters. That’s what the last two elections he was involved in showed. People who don’t pay attention to politics but are sick of high prices are going to break for him. |
They have increased most rapidly for the bottom 40%. You know, working people. |
This is about the best I found to answer my question. Not everyone felt like things improved. https://www.nbcwashington.com/inflation-economy-housing-prices-recession-vibes/a-tale-of-2-economies-wages-are-going-up-why-do-we-feel-like-we-cant-afford-anything/3536747/?amp=1 |
Oops. Here is the more recent one: https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna158569 |
"In August 2024, inflation amounted to 2.5 percent, while wages grew by 4.6 percent. The inflation rate has not exceeded the rate of wage growth since January 2023" 2022 was BAD. "Wages outpace inflation The Consumer Price Index, a measurement of the change in price of goods and services, has increased 20.8% since the beginning of the pandemic, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics. During that same period of time, average hourly earnings increased 22.3%. "We had this period where inflation rose faster than wages, and what we've how had in the last year or so is we've seen wages growing faster than inflation," said Gerald Cohen, a professor and chief economist at the Frank H. Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise at the University of North Carolina." https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2024/07/16/inflation-vs-wages-rnc-2024/74417898007/ |
So not perfect...but on the right track. Now let's add dumbass tariffs and see which way that leads... |
The CPI does not cover the cost of buying a home, only rent, and the cost of buying a home has out-paced wages in many places.
Also, when people cite the rise of wages vs inflation, they're not thinking about the actual concerns of working parents, including things like the ability to save for retirement and college. I'm a Harris voter who gets why she is losing so many working class people. It's not that Trump is so much better, it's that the Dems keep saying they're doing so much based upon numbers that are meaningless in the day-to-day lives of so many Americans. |
Don't you think most Americans have learned the hard way that people in their elderly years don't make great leaders of very powerful countries and that adequate leadership is more important than any other quality in a POTUS? Harris is our only chance at the adequate leadership we've been missing since Obama left office. |
NP While I believe you are right, it is odd that you refer to cornflakes which are made in red part of Michigan. |
Oh thank god you showed up to remind us all BoThSiDeS. |
DP. Of Trump’s or Biden/Harris? Because we could make a long list of Trump’s policies and suggested policies that would qualify as disastrous. |
