Yes, like how Detroit became affordable when the auto industry moved most of the jobs to the south. Or the rust belt cities after the decline in steel. Very affordable. |

That did not work out so well for the USDA: https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2023/01/20/trump-relocations-usda-kansas-city-gao-report/ Similar results followed the USG RIFs in the 1990s as well. |
But the government is actually not bloated other than the middle tier at the DOD, which are mostly Vets anyhow, so where would you cut that doesn't impact a lot of people negatively? |
Do you really think food inspectors are sitting around in an office in DC? |
+1 I lived in multiple countries overseas that did not follow any kind of “regulation” and it showed. Hotels would dump their garbage over the wall, buildings went unfinished (topped with exposed rebar), and you had to throw your soiled toilet tissue in the trash instead of the toilet (seeing poop or blood-smeared tissue sitting on top of the trash is nasty). Nobody obeyed any sort of law to protect the disabled, so people in wheelchairs couldn’t exit their buildings when people blocked the ramps; in some cases, ramps were simply a set of stairs that had been paved over, so they were very steep (I couldn’t get a stroller down one without slipping). None of the water was potable. |
That doesn’t change the fact we could cut the fed jobs in half and trim the fat of useless SES and higher level management. |
LOL yes dear the regulatory system that keeps your food and water and air clean doesn’t need actual employees. The system is being dismantled but by the time we see the full consequences it will be too late. |
Look at the state of the food we consume here and tell me they are doing a good job. Might as well gut these corrupt bureaucrats and career do nothings. |
Yeah, let’s replace them with people who aren’t qualified to do anything but lick boots! It all be a huge improvement and there will be no corruption and they will keep us safe! Certainly having only yes men around who don’t want to upset their superiors won’t lead to like Chernobyl or anything. You are so completely ignorant. |

So, do you think there should be more regulation of food? Hint… Republicans aren’t going to do that. |
Someone needs to aggreegate data, make sure there aren't negative trends and supply data to congresspeople when they request it, and inform any potential legislation or budget needs for the nexxt farm bill, I mean, I get it, the GOP doesn't like numbers or dealing with anything having to do with facts, so I can understand why you think just cutting jobs without understanding function is acceptable. |
Then recommend specific cuts. Just mandating a number and forcing those who remain to "pick up the slack" doesn't cut it. |
Maybe the issue is the GOP continuing to cut and businesses constantly skirting the regulations. |
