I wouldn’t say she was an influencer. She wasn’t ever trying to sell anything. Other than herself and her lifestyle. Just display. Enormous extravagance.
The rumor is their friends had given them $$$$ to invest. They obviously spent it. |
When you don't have products to sell but you put yourself out there, you become the commodity. She sold herself and is paying the price |
Thanks for the perspective.
As a guy involved in corporate deals, an investor, NYC real estate, and an attorney, I've experienced so many grifters and fraudsters that my antennas are always up. I never invested with Mike, actually, he invested with me. I wasn't scammed. That's not to say that Mike couldn't or wouldn't be shifty. I have no idea what Brandon was like professionally. The legal actions - to me - merely reflect a single bank trying to recover on a defaulted debt obligation. Everything else is not unusual - a turn in fortune (probably due to the NY real estate market), a family trying to protect assets, kids living over their head, it eventually catching up with them. The influencer thing certainly made it severely difficult to pivot in lifestyle without irrevocable consequences. Maybe they did cut back and their friends abandoned them. I don't know. I know nothing about a fraudulent deal with friends/investors, and I don't see any factual evidence of that (e.g., lawsuits), but who knows. Maybe I've seen so much that is far worse that I'm not impacted by what might seem to be egregious to others. Certainly, there are things I'm not aware of. The influencer stuff - that's all just smoke and mirrors to me. Always. Also, I know that things weren't always great for Mike. He was self-made and his fortunes and psyche suffered through some down times. I knew a good friend who helped Mike when he was down decades ago. Genetics? I wish Brandon had someone to intervene. |
THIS is why people are foaming at the mouth with barely disguised glee at the downfall. “Custom watercolor invitations” for a child’s birthday party. Their average birthday party was nicer than most weddings |
2017 and 2019
Circumstances can change. SVB and Signature Bank are examples of what has been happening in NYC RE. More to come. Also, given that this was possibly related to her business, who know what was received in exchange for advertising/sponsorship. I dislike the influencers as much as anyone, but there is often bartering as I understand it. |
never heard of them until 2 hours ago. that reddit thread is gold. i think they were scammers, and she knew /was an active participant.
on reddit they were saying the posts rivaled or were more gratutious than the kardashians, and in fact were more over the top than any other account obvi including billionaires and all others wealthier than they claimed to be. nuts. my uninformed take is that she/they didnt hit the brakes on spending bc they figured they keep scamming. easier said than done but with that kind of following and network they could have come up with a legit way to make that it all back w/in 5 years. |
If they were renting furniture I do not see how she would not know. Billionaires do not do that. |
LOL That is awesome. |
Already done 😎 |
It’s ok to be gleeful when pigs like this steal money and shamelessly display how they’re spending it even when they owe money to businesses like furniture and boat dock fees. |
In the area that I grew up in (although not in a neighborhood like this) a man recently killed his 18 year old daughter, wife and himself apparently over money problems. They lived in a 21 room house that was being foreclosed on, I think it already was but they were going to be evicted since they no longer owned it.
I can’t understand what makes people want 21 rooms when there are three of them. He apparently put on a display of wealth when even while his company failed. He couldn’t handle the shame of being evicted so he decided to murder his family. Really sad |
The Daily Beast gets more into the story https://www.thedailybeast.com/dark-secrets-of-instagram-husband-brandon-millers-death-on-millionaire-row Toxic combination of social media pressures and nepo baby entitlement. Thankfully this wasn't a family annihilation. |
Does anyone have a link that provides all of the Intel on this whole thing, top to bottom?? I found a few, but nothing concise. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13617209/candice-miller-husband-brandon-lawsuits-died.html |
Nycinfluencers subreddit had a good breakdown |
Link here https://www.reddit.com/r/NYCinfluencersnark/comments/1dygax1/mama_and_tata_brandon_miller_summarized/ That whole subreddit has its own drama |
