Yep. Was at UMBC yesterday morning for a 9 am ceremony. The concession stands on the "A-K" side were open.I saw someone walking down to their seat with some popcorn and bottled waters.` |
The only food I saw for sale was popcorn. Lots of expensive bottled drinks. Water was $4+ but good to have.
Traffic was horrible both in and out of campus. Allow much, much more time than anticipated. |
All those stage/av/seating/etc rentals need to be returned. |
And school is canceled that day for the rest of that high school, to allow the teachers to attend. You’d have to cancel school for another day at the last minute, which would cause all kinds of cascading logistical issues. |
DAR is a great venue. Gorgeous and comfortable. And you can make early dinner reservations at a nice restaurant in DC. Feels very special. Take Uber or Lyft to avoid parking hassles. Or metro pretty close and then a short Uber ride. Worth the hassle in my opinion |
Certainly to all that. It's also way too small for the larger HSs in MCPS. |
A discussion about the graduation experience:

How long was your kid's graduation? |
Over 2 hours but under 2.5 hrs |
Less than 2 hours for us— Rockville High School, which is a smaller school for MCPS. 339 graduates said the principal. |
OMG! I was at the Rockville graduation too, had a kid graduating there 4 days ago and I think UMBC was much better than DAR. |
