Young tean - Jerry Spenneli (like Space Statuon 7th Grade); Susan Cooper’s The Dark is Rising series, Narnia series, and Elizabeth George Speare (those were more like tween) books

I read a lot in high school and don’t remember too many specifics but liked Jane Austin and read a few of Ian Flemming’s books which were fun. I remember an excellent nonfiction that I believe was called Elephant Memories. I think I was a teen when I first read and enjoyed some of David McCullugh’s biographies too.

Pp here. Also remember really enjoying “My Family and Other Animals” and “My Name is Asher Lev” and “The Gift of Asher Lev”. Many of my friends enjoyed Tolkien as teens but I never got into it.

The mention of The Face on the Milk Carton (which I loved) reminded me of Summer of my German Soldier (might have too much romance) and a vague memory of The Peacock Spring.

All the Madeleine L'Engle books! Even when I was a teen in the 90's some of them were out of print or at least hard to find.

Lois Lowry. Phyllis Reynolds Naylor. Lynne Reid Banks.

Those four are still deep in the core of my being.

Not as deep in there but still fun:
The Book of Three and sequels
Martin the Warrior and all those Redwall books.
Black Stallion books (The Black Stallion and the Girl is my favorite).

These may have too much romance, but mostly about friendship:

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
And
The Ya Ya Sisterhood

Wait, I don't remember for sure what the Ya Ya one was about other than the perspective was older women looking back (right?) but I remember liking both these books with sisterhood in the title

I agree. And if it is really an anti-drug book put out by the government, it worked for me. It really made me terrified of hallucinogens.

The Outsiders
Everything by Judy Blume, from are You There God, It’s Me Margaret at age 11 to Forever in high school.

I am nearly 62 and remember these from junior high(when there was such a thing.)

I’m the poster above and I’m 63.

I remember Forever. Vividly
