Neighbor is living her best life on Disability with "Long Covid"

What are you waiting for, OP? Go report her already. What else do you want to hear? That she's a bad person and is scamming the system? You've already heard it so go and do something about it since it bothers you enough to post about it on an anonymous message board.

The insurance policy is paying her. Why do you care?

Do you not understand how insurance works? When people like this awful woman take advantage, it goes up for all of us, which is precisely why we should all care. She's completely abusing the system.

You are the one that doesn’t understand the system. Insurance companies will do everything in their power did not pay out of policy. Not defrauding insurance company. And premiums are not going up for everybody. GMAFB

There’s no insurance company in the world it isn’t making out like a bandit

Who is she gonna call? Ghost busters?

She could have trouble thinking. Hosting a book club is easier than working a job.

If she had trouble thinking, how is she hosting a book club?

I wonder how she was able to scam with “long COVID” without being hospitalized.

How is she drinking wine with friend?

As terrible as insurance companies are, two wrongs don't make a right. And people abusing the system are still rotten in the same "I got mine!" way.

Insurance companies require 3 doctors evaluation, she not gaming the system,

I know a ton of people that travel and play tennis. They could never do my job.

For a younger individual, SS is only going to find her disabled if she cannot do even the basic physical and mental demands even sedentary, unskilled work. If she can host a book club, she can probably sit on an assembly bench doing repetitive work.

Fed disability retirement may be different. I believe it looks as whether you can do your own or a comparable job.

I wonder if OP is right that the neighbor is on both or maybe it’s just fed retirement.

If she’s well enough to walk on court and play tennis, she can certainly do a desk job.

There’s also a process to notify authorities of potential fraud.

That is not how disability works. Disability pays you if you can’t do. YOUR job, it doesn’t matter if you could do another job.

This is literally the exact opposite of SS disability. They look at whether you can perform your past job or other jobs.

Who are you to call her a name and say she's "taking advantage."

If she's playing tennis and enjoying overseas vacations (Italy requires a lot of walking), there is no way she is actually disabled.

Certainly not too disabled to do a fed desk job. Come ON.

She maybe unable to concentrate or read documents, neither which is needed for tennis. Maybe she could qualify for a labor job, but I’m sure only for very limited periods.

Someone from my work has long covid and has cognitive symptoms that prevent her from working. We are lawyers. She might be able to play tennis for all I know, but she can’t practice law.

Agree. I doubt OP knows the details. It’s even possible she just quit working because she felt to sick to work every day and is living off her husband’s income (and isn’t getting disability from anyone).

Tell that to my sick and struggling Grandmother. She’s just faking that she is out of breath, that lazy old bitty.

Your facts are wrong, OP. Long covid is not actually a category for while social security grants disability applications. She must have other things going on, or she’s not getting social security.

Its for actual disabled people. If you can read and discuss a novel and plan elaborate vacations, you can push paper at your desk job.

You don't have all the facts, and you never will. Calm down and MYOB. Maybe try to figure out why you're bitter.
