I sincerely hope it’s a day trip by the time my first grader gets there.

Unfortunately first graders no longer have the opportunity to participate in this valuable program. The intention to expand the program by hiring additional staff was a step in the right direction, but it appears that APS has made poor hiring decisions, bringing on administrators and staff who lack the necessary competence to lead programs effectively. I urge APS to reevaluate their leadership and staff, ensuring that qualified and capable individuals are in place to restore and enhance the outdoor lab experience for all students, including first graders. Our children deserve a well-managed and enriching program led by competent professionals.

APS doesn't save money! Now if you want to say shut it down, and pay the admins to stay home that would be more honest.

It’s not a favorite for lots of kids. The proponents are just very vocal that every kid loves it. They don’t. Two of my kids hated it and they went a decade ago.

No dog in this fight but it’s really not a life changing experience for the majority

Yup, same here. And even if it's a "favorite," I'd rather the school district focus on core instruction and paying teachers and updating our decrepit buildings.

+1 Even if it's unique, and a great outdoor learning opportunity... this school district has urgent, immediate needs, and has an ever growing school population with increasing needs.
Teacher retention, keeping class offerings (instead of positions going unfilled and taught by subs for an entire year), school psychologists, counselors... the list of needs is huge. Not to mention the serious needs for improvements of the buildings.
