Any marginally popular governor of a deep blue state. Laura Kelly or Jared Polis or Andy Beshear or Roy Cooper or Tim Walz
OP here. 1. Who??? Outside of their states they govern, no one know who these folks are. Did you read the assignment. Who, if they go in the race TODAY would have a chance to beat Trump? Who has the money, the infrastructure, the nation and foreign policy accomplishment and the name recognition to battle Trump? You all are living in a fantasy of what you want from policy and future. I'm talking about reality. Today. Jan. 22, 2024.
So a campaign held today would be won by someone who is currently actively campaigning? With insight like that, you should be a political consultant
I'm saying, anyone claiming that ANY DEMS will win over Biden isn't dealing with the reality that we are in the campaign. So stop complaining and get to work to keep Trump out of the White House. Biden won in 2020 and will win again IF We ALL DO THE WORK. So man up and stop complaining. Anyone griping who doesn't lift a finger deserves Trump. Self- government means we all need to be involved in some way or any other. If you are on this board, then you have the time and skills to make a few call, write a letter, send postcards. Stop B ! T C H I N G, start D O I N G.
Um. We all? How about— Biden and his team does the work to earn the votes? He’s not polling the way he is with young voters because young people are confused or uninformed, he’s polling that way because he’s doing things they disagree with and expecting them to show up anyway. So maybe he can “start doing” since he’s the leader of the free world and all?
We're citizens not customers. It's on us to do the work to preserve our country.
Wow people like you really don’t expect much from the leaders in your country huh? Trump is a moron, Biden is a dud. Not interested in voting for either. It’s my right to vote for the Green Party and before you blame me, blame your candidate for being such a colossal failure.
This isn't too complicated: It's your right, and I will blame you when you choose to exercise it in a way that hurts my country.
But you won’t blame the leader who failed to earn the votes from the citizens of his country because he has not been able to deliver anything meaningful? lol ok. Your leader is currently hurting the country, not me.
If you honestly believe Biden has not delivered anything meaningful, then you clearly have no clue how effective this administration was in its first two years. As to the third year, the GOP House passed exactly zero meaningful bills. That is not the fault of the president, who tried offering new legislation to address orther critical areas of need for the country.
Biden should take a page out of Truman's '48 campaign about the "do nothing GOP Congress"? The GOP leadership in the house is outright incompetence. |
And your magic fluffy unicorn candidate will change this how, exactly? |
Let's stop with a woman. The only woman who might have a chance is Harris to succeed Biden if he dies in office! |
At a minimum they won’t have a bunch of people in the country who feel they’ve been de-prioritized by the Biden administration voting against them/staying home. At maximum they will send the message that you can’t take the votes of women and Black people for granted— and then deliver most of your wins for your usual white male constituents. |
I’m OP. I absolutely LOVE Whitmer. I want her to be President. I’m thrilled no one mentioned Gavin Newsom because we all know yhink he deserves the Presidency. But this is not the time. No, I’m not saying, “only correct answer is Biden.” I’m really truly trying to get people to accept the reality that AT THIS MOMENT Joe Biden is best positioned to beat Trump. I wish this weren’t the case. I wish after Trump tried to overturn our election and incited an insurrection Senate Republicans would have voted to convict him. But they didn’t. I wish after all but a handful of Maga Trump candidates lost in 22, the GOP would’ve seen that staying close to him they would continue to lose seats. But they didn’t. I wish after Roe was overturned, MAGA realized that abortion bans were a losing issue, but they didn’t. Yes, I wish the world was different. But it isn’t. |
If you think Trump is like Reagan or Nixon or Eisenhower, you're delusional. All we ask is that you vote for someone who didn't try to overthrow the government. |
People don't know who Gretchen Whitmer is but they do know who Jared Golden is? |
Republicans in Michigan are a dumpster fire: "Meet the Two Competing Groups of Conspiracy Theorists Claiming to Lead the Michigan Republican Party" "In Michigan, a yearlong conflict between members of the 107-person Republican state committee came to a head this month as rival factions each held meetings purporting to declare an official leader of the state GOP." https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2024/01/michigan-gop-fight-conspiracy-theorists-kristina-karamo.html |
I am the OP. With Project 25 a thing, does it matter what Republican is voted in, in terms of the preservation of democracy? |
Then start a thread that says “I want you to vote for Joe Biden” Don’t start a thread asking for alternatives and then being upset when you’re given alternatives that meet your original criteria. It is— if this is possible on DCUM— disrespectful to the intelligence of the people you’re talking to and certainly not helping anyone’s view of Biden supporters. |
OP here. NOPE. The issue is thread after thread, poster chime in with “any other Democrat would beat Trump”. My post was to tease that out, to get an actual name of who that “any other Dem” might be. 6 pages in and no one has named a candidate that would come close to having the name ID, the infrastructure or the political chops to beat Trump. I would’ve been All In had somebody named public figure that would have a better chance of beating Trump. This thread only shows there isn’t a stronger candidate or consensus. The time to complain was a year ago. It is now January 2024. We need to stop complaining and pull on our big boy and big girl panties and get behind Joe Biden. |
Ritchie Torres is fantastic. |
If it were Liz Cheney, I would fear for abortion rights, but not the democracy. Same with Joe Walsh, Adam Kintzinger and a host of other (fromer) non-viable GOP. Otherwise, if they are Trump-adherents, no, it doesn't matter. This is the right wing agenda for the country. |
Agree. But he wouldn't beat Trump in the 2024 presidential election. |
People named candidates. You then made the new rule they had to be running for president. Only one Democrat is— that’s how a party system works. So no, no one needs to “stop complaining” that the party doesn’t prioritize them. They need to complain more loudly, in more polls, and to every elected official because it’s very clear that their votes are being taken for granted. Instead of telling people who Biden has ignored to “stop complaining” why don’t you put on those big girl pants and get your candidate to…do better? He can call the UN Ambassador tomorrow to stop vetoing SC resolutions on Gaza. He can mandate family-friendly policies in the Federal government— the country’s largest employer!— tomorrow. Or he can keep on delivering for white men and hope everyone else will get scolded by someone to “stop complaining!” and come to the polls to keep him in his job. |
