So she spoke out against school closures? I agreed with her. APS dragged that on way too long.
None of the trash talk MT folks have been able to provide what other school board members have managed to accomplish? In the video Reid talks about it never being able to meet goals!! Please provide explains of what other school board members have done for APS. quote=Anonymous]
Umm … she “put in the work” badmouthing staff and teachers for a couple years. Then she ran against a real candidate. After losing, she waited till no one was really running for the office and then she was basically handed a seat on the SB. Let’s just be clear about what happened. But good luck to her. It’s easy to criticize. |

I’ll I’ve seen are ballooning classroom sizes, unhappy teachers (and many leaving), and a lack luster sped program (and I know this first hand) quote=Anonymous]So she spoke out against school closures? I see what you did there. You deflected because you can't point to anything Miranda has actually done. |
I know people who have tried to talk with Miranda about real issues and problems with APS. They said it was like talking to a brick wall. She didn't get it and didn't seem to want to.
Maybe she's responsive to her little APE group, but not to anyone else. This was also made entirely clear by her campaign manager. |
You are deflecting. You can’t name anything the other school board members have done? Miranda has been a member for 1 month |
More deflecting! ![]() Take your complaints to MT. |
And please do it publicly with the usual APE theatrics, then let us know so we can watch popcorn in hand. |
Campaign manager promises to scream over others when they are talking. |
No one's deflecting. You're changing the subject. MT and APE criticized APS and the SB relentlessly and now she's "learning" the job? That's hilarious. As for the other SB members, they've done what SB members do -- passed the budget, CIP, strategic plan, policies. Now, MT is learning that job, too. LOL. |
Oh yes, let’s all please show Miranda some grace hahaha. Let’s follow her example of how she demonstrated patience and grace to all the teachers and staff. Hopefully, she will learn fast now that she’s on the other side. She did have A LOT to say then. I’m sure she’ll show them how it’s done now that it’s her turn. |
I’m a teacher who absolutelychafed at abusive behavior from APE people during the pandemic. I also disagree with Turner on a number of issues, but the vitriol directed at her family frequently goes too far, and frankly isn’t getting us anywhere productive. How do we better serve all our students? Who is genuinely advocating lower class sizes and retain the best classroom staff? Can anyone on this thread please speak to any of the candidates and their positions in 2024? |
I hated APE during the pandemic but signed up for their newsletter to keep track of things. They advocate for teacher pay, smaller class sizes, cutting extra holiday from syphax, high quality interventions. They are now aligned with many things I see the people in the APS educators group asking for. |
Do they still have a Republican board and slip in R talking points? Are they still heavy on the opinions and low on the knowledge? Have they ever apologized for acting like irrational a-holes? |
This. Their newsletter is full of flawed assumptions, anecdotes treated like data, quoting anonymous “teachers” who don’t speak for all teachers. It’s political propaganda disguised as research. It’s the opinion of 1-2 Republicans who have a LOT of time on their hands and agendas |
I’m still waiting for Duran and co to apologize for wasting 11 mil on a failed virtual learning program…. Or for switching health insurance on teachers without fair warning 😳 |
