No they don’t. They randomly scan like 7 things. |
No they do not. |
I have not seen any of this stuff about blocking the doors at my Giants (Arlington/Falls Church/McLean). Where is this happening? |
I would think they are - who knows. The good people get punished for the bad people. |
This is the way. |
I feel bad for those staffers too. But if the stores would put those staffers as checkers in freaking checkout lanes, there would be more satisfied customers. The stores, however, do not want to have actual human checkers anymore. An experienced checker is much faster than the new self-checkout idiocy. |
Stiffing hourly workers is always the way to stick it to the man ![]() |
I mean that’s how everything works. Paperwork at the bank, tsa, taxes, enrolling your kids in school, credit cards. I mean like in Mayberry it mighty work. If everyone was honorable we wouldn’t need lawyers. |
And, the corporations can write the amount off as a tax credit! Crazy!! |
The new 20-item limit is fine for the small self-checkouts but my Giant also has two regular-sized checkouts (with conveyor belts, the kind where checkers used to work) set up as self-checkouts. That does not have the 20-item limit yet. If they try to impose it there, they will get reamed by customers. A lot of people use those two measly full-sized self-checkouts for larger amounts of shopping because most of the time, day or night, there are only ONE to two actual checkers working, and most often it's just one. |
NP. Yay, yet another app to load. Some of us loathe everything having to be done via app. Oh well, we know we're in the minority but it's just another thing that adds to the suckiness of the shopping experience. |
How do you spell “false imprisonment” and “kidnapping?” |
Pay yourself at the self checkout. That's what I do.
I take one or two expensive items per trip (usually 3 trips a week) and I simply don't scan it. Yesterday I walked with $22 of Peets coffee beans for free. Last week I didn't scan $16 of British Cheddar. If they want me to bring my own bags, check myalf out, pack all my things, they can either adjust price to account for my labor or I will. |
Making up what? Closed exits? Two different stores in two different Maryland counties near me. Armed guards? Same two stores? Rampant full-cart theft? Do you read ANY news? Glad you live in such a happy place that the degradation others are experiencing seems unbelievable. |
You just need to alter your process. It took me a few trips to change my routine. My only remaining issue is not being able to place my reusable bag in the checkout area. So I just bag everything at the end now. |
