Nope. If CA wants to make himself a major policymaker on criminal justice issues in DC when it allows him to cater to certain activist groups and placate certain constituents, he doesn't then get to pretend that he has no power at all over the issue when other constituents who are being directly impacted by violent crime call for him to take action. He also doesn't get to blame the mayor and the police chief for crimes in his ward without explaining exactly how they are to blame.

Otherwise it's just buck passing. Personally, I dislike Bowser but I think one of the primary causes of the current crime wave was prolonged school closures that left too many of our young people on their own for too long, leading to alarming criminality among very young people in the city. At least Bowser seemed invested in reopening schools sooner. Just as a for instance.

I think this kind of sandbox argument works amongst the CA followers. Guess what, doesn’t work on the adults.

Not one person has offered an argument that actually defends Allen's stance on crime in this thread, beyond "haha Charles Allen doesn't control crime on the interstate highway system, haha murder is funny to me."

It's honestly the glibness of some of these comments that pisses me off most. This was a horrible violent event that resulted in multiple deaths and terrified neighbors. And people in this thread are making snide remarks about it to CA's constituents who are genuinely afraid and sick and tired this violence. It's beyond disrespectful. I care about this $hit because my kids live here and I don't want a bullet flying through their bedroom window while they’re sleeping. It's not a joke.

Didn’t you hear Allen today though? It was a highway event that just happened to be in Cap Hill. It wasn’t crime. It was violence for which he will ensure accountability, but seeing how he was on the phone to the police the whole night and fired all the cops plus they hate him, there were no cops left to catch the gunmen are still at large. No worries though, this way we save the steps otherwise needed in releasing them right back on the street immediately. Plus this was just a road rage that rattled the community a bit. Even it it’s happening every night take solace that the person who bricks you in the head probably has road rage.

No one has ever cared so much about DC politics, much less one council politician, Charles Allen, to make it so a topic such as this has multiple responses in under a minute. These responses are paid-for arguments, and I don't know who is paying, but I could guess.
