Jessie Buckley. This is bananas BUT she is really good in Women Talking and I really recommend watching it. It's streaming on Amazon Prime so one of the nominated movies that's really easy to watch for most people and it's got Buckley, Frances McDorman, Claire Foy, and Mara Rooney in it and they are all great. Written and directed by Sarah Polley (who I think looks great tonight I'll post her in a second). I feel like the movie has been weirdly overlooked for a nominated feature and I just recommend watching it (this is still ugly AF though I think she's doing that on purpose, it's her thing).

Sarah Polley, as promised. It's not the most interesting thing in the world but I don't think she cares about wearing gowns and she looks 100% herself and super comfortable. I love her glasses and the rose.

I said this upthread, but I think this dress was selected for how it would look onstage for a win and I do think if she wins it will look amazing up there. The closeups showed that the fabric is this super delicate, fluttering lace with a little bit of shimmer, and I think it will move beautifully. But agree it was extremely underwhelming on the red carpet after a season of her doing a ton of super amazing high fashion. I think she just went with "I want to feel pretty" for the big night, which is totally her prerogative, but as a viewer of course I want more drama.

Mindy changed for the actual show? I just saw her in the audience and she's wearing black now. I never understand when people do this unless they are hosting or performing. It's bananas to change between walking the carpet and... sitting down. Even if she's presenting, it's too much. Just pick a dress. This isn't your night -- you aren't nominated.
