I have a friend with kids there. She’s Hispanic and says a large portion of Heights families are too.

I bet your friends driver’s license says she’s white. 80%-90% of of Hispanics check white so they fit right in.

Well as we all know their Hispanic/Not-Hispanic is technically an “ethnicity” not a “race.” But when the PP claimed everyone is white or someone talks about “white supremacy” they mean non-Hispanic whites.

What makes you think that? Isn’t the leader leader of the Proud Boys hispanic? White hispanics still see themselves as white, if not they would check other in the box.

Some groups of people are confused about their ethic heritage 60% of the residents in the US territory of Puerto Rico identify as white, 19% identify as other, 11% Black, 9% as mixed.

How is that confusion? You’re allowed to check both Hispanic (ethnicity) and white or whatever other race you want.

What makes me think that is that not every extreme right-wing group is correctly classified as “white supremacy.” There are other elements to the extreme right wing than white supremacy. You’re being simplistic and also this really has nothing to do with the Heights…

It’s not one or the other box. Have you filled out a census form or any other form in this century? White hispanics can check Hispanic and White. The choices don’t map well onto a population that is mostly mixed indigenous/European. Are you suggesting they check Black or Native American or else they’re white supremacists ?

We were also informed there were so many applicants with teachers' kids, siblings applying, and alumni, there were only 5 openings available out of the class of 45 for 3rd grade. Which is nuts.

Interested if anyone here heard similar or different informaiton.

Hi, were you offered a spot? Just curious how it works as we are considering enrolling our son there for third in the 24-25 school year. This is the first I’ve heard about a waitlist for third so I’m nervous!

Scientific stats.

My daughter recently befriended a group of people she met in our church youth group, and I can't say how lovely these families are. The kids are wholesome and not obsessed with social media and the drama that comes along with that. They enjoy going to activities like sporting events, youth group meetings, and recently even started a book club. These kids are some of the most stable I know...and my daughter has friends from all walks of life -- athletes, theater kids, academic nerds. She is the combination of all three, but she really enjoys this group of kids the most because they are the kindest and least competitive friends she has.

Your daughter sounds perfect. The group does too. Like a 1980s preppy group but in modern day times. Good on you!

In the 80’s my Catholic HS classmates were going to bars in our uniform (drinking age was 18), smoking pot, doing mushrooms and getting pregnant.

In the 80s, Catholic schools were frequently a place where parents sent troubled offspring. Made for some culture shock when DC area kids would meet alumni of Catholic schools from e.g. PA and expected them to be hard partiers.

Re apply for next year. Waitlist season is over...

Do they still not have dances and discourage dating? Even among high school boys?

My guess is that they still do not sponsor school dances. I mean, I get why they don’t want to commit to a school sponsored dance as they would have limited control over who comes and what may happen. But for high school, I just think that they aren’t setting the boys up for real life in this regard. Or maybe they feel they are protecting their boys from their raging hormones. I do hear that parents are the drivers of many social opportunities but not sure.
