They just messed around with the Quarter lengths in the Blue calendar. The TW that was supposed to be up against MLK day is moved to the end of Jan (Q2). The big change was moving up the end of Q3 ahead of Spring Break, which puts the two TWs after Spring Break making it 11 days.

God, why on earth would they end school on a Wednesday? With the following week having Juneteenth? It's going to be impossible to find camp coverage those two weeks.

Is it over or still happening?

It ends on a Friday.

What is the point of releasing four options, doing a survey, extending the survey, and then approving a completely different calendar????

It’s also an AP test day.

This was not considered.

I don't think the AP test dates for 2024 have been released yet.

Interesting.

but not the other years.

this one has a week, then the next monday is workday, then 3 days of school, and then another workday. ludicrous.

I guess I don't have a problem with that. Easter is just way too late in 24/25 so they have two days after the QE a couple of weeks ahead. In 25/26, yeah, it'll be a three-day week but that isn't a huge deal.

Their hands are tied because they simply have too many teachers that live outside of Fairfax Co.

So is it not the blue amended calendar someone linked to? That has YE on a Wednesday. June 12th

Why would camp be difficult during Juneteenth week?

They are still talking.

If they can stack the PW (teacher professional work days) at the end of the year, doesn't that indicate that they aren't actually necessary, relevant or useful to teaching students? I mean, I'm glad they consolidated them at the end of the year, but it suggests they are not really useful.

Why would camp be difficult during Juneteenth week?

Most camps don't start until a week AFTER school lets out, so in this case it would be a week and a half.

Corbett-Sanders making a good point that the quarter-end teacher workdays and how the teachers should be left alone and not have to do any training those days.

I don't see any reason why camps wouldn't start on June 17th.
