Same here.. In the office every day during Covid but now only mask if we are getting over a cold etc |
Op, please re-read what you wrote. You need therapy. STAT |
Grow up op. It’s been 3 years. |
And fortunately for both of us, your company isn't that important to me. |
I agree, OP. I won't do this anymore. WFH or bust. And for the record, I've been WFH since 2015. I am NOT going back to an office. |
Yeah, I BET everyone is going to mask everytime they are getting over a cold. Did you expect the same in 2019? No, you didn't. I am never wearing a mask again. Viva 2019! |
The jobs report came out today. 517K non-farm payroll jobs reported. If you aren't happy, go find a new job. Apparently they are out there. |
This is how our company is too. We have beautiful offices, the one I was assigned to when I started almost exactly a year ago was built in 2019 (with an open floor layout...oooh BURN! lol) I had to go in the office for my first two days as I needed to collect my equipment and get my VPN set up. The company (a F10 company) was still 100% remote, but you could go in if you wanted to at that time. They attempted to get everyone back in the office back in May 2022, but it failed miserably. Hardly anyone came back, even though we were supposed to. My company gave up and let everyone make a choice - FT office, hybrid, or FT WFH. I chose FT WFH, even though I live only 10 minutes away. Those two days I had to spend in the office were miserable. I spoke to no one. I was sitting in an open floor plan with not a soul in sight. Never went back! All of our meetings are Teams meetings with people all over the world. Pre-Covid, I'm sure this company hardly ever had an in person meeting because it makes no sense. Over the summer, my company weaseled out of its lease on that 2019-built building, and others. In Feb 2022, we had 6 local offices. Today, we have ONE. |
OP going into the office is a waste of some many resources and a total waste of time and effort. I agree with you not sure why you are getting such heat from these catty ladies but in no way does it make any sense to go back in. |
Don't worry, OP. When the depression comes you won't have a job to go to, and that will solve your problems. |
I'm with OP. HIghly skilled, highly efficient lawyer who's team is spread across the US so in-person was never really important. Visit clients all across the US as needed. No benefit to in the office other than intangible "office culture" and junior attorney training. Which i agree both are important to our firm's overall medium-term success, but will have no impact on my career as an individual (as in, whether the train is adequately able to maintain training is not important to me, so long as i find a good associate who i train).
People are starting to go in 2 days a week. I am not because i finagled full time WFH. But the irony is that the firm switched to all VOIP/through your computer calls, no more stand alone Cisco phone sets on your office desks. And for some reason, the zoom audio quality is horrid for people in the office. It's like april 2020 all over again, with people fumbling with their headsets, can't get the speaker to work, and then having a lot of call lag. |
NP.. this is how I feel. I've been wfh since 2014. It would be really hard for me to get a job where I had to work in the office. On the flipside, I don't get to socialize with coworkers as much, especially since they are dotted all over the world. Such is the life in a global company. |
Oh STFU. You’ve had YEARS more time at home than many of us. If you don’t like it, quit. What utter nonsense. |
That sounds like a bonus pt to me. I hate my coworkers |
As someone who has to go into tge office every day due to the nature of my work, I agree with OP. Why make someone who can do their work remotely come onsite?
I have a colleague who comes into the office once a month so that people such as myself can give her paper documentation. The rest of the time I don't need to see her face to face. |
