Gisele is a crazy train control freak. It’s not like Tom can just hang out with the kids. I’m sure they have to have guided meditations and then green tea ceremonies and then bath in petals. She is a nut case. I’m sure she ran to Costa Rica to pick up her energy crystals.

Come on. Gisele has her quirks but I don't think what's she asking for is that Tom spend time with her. I think she wants her kids to have a father who can engage with them and parent them through their trials and tribulations. And be there to help create memories for them. And I think she wants this for her stepson as well. All the extended relatives, tutors, mentors and nanny's in the world mean that they'll be plenty fine in life but why not fight to give them a present father? That would be so much more meaningful. Given all of his accomplishments, being a present father should outweigh being so laser-focused on his career at this point. He has nothing left to prove and might suffer an injury that will take a long time to recover from. Gisele doesn't need his money and could probably get full physical custody if she wanted to so why not exert some leverage? I would if I were in her shoes.

I hate the retiring/unretiring dog and pony show. I hated it with Brett Favre and I hate it now. Philipp Lahm (soccer) had the right idea. He pulled the plug maybe a year too early instead of a year too late, went out on top, and has moved onto spearheading Germany's Euro 2024 hosting and other projects. We didn't have to watch him fall to pieces and embarrass himself on the field. More players should do similar.

+1. I am an NFL fan and some years, I am in a fantasy league. The average playing time for most players in the league is 3.3 years. The odds of a CTE injury only increase each year you stay in. Players who retire/unretire are hard to root for. Maybe it is truly indecisiveness but it seems they just can't let go of the attention and adulation - they can't stand to be away from the limelight. It does take a big adjustment to retire and say coach your kids' team or be supportive while traveling with your kids for one fall and winter sports season. I admire Barry Sanders and Andrew Luck for leaving early and in their prime - they made a decision and stuck with it and left the game before it broke them, mentally and physically..

Please. Tom Brady has not been a stay-at-home dad sacrificing his career to raise the kids. He's been the workaholic all through the kids' entire childhoods in a job that is all encompassing, stopped it for 40 days, and then went right back. That is not akin to the situation of the mom wanting to go back to work after SAH a while.
