That's because the colleges they go to don't accept any of their AP credits. Top-ranked colleges like to see that you have taken AP classes, but they aren't going to give you credit for them. The education that colleges such as Berkeley and Harvard offer are so unique, so one-of-a-kind, that no high school could replicate it.
