Housing location within reasonable commute to the UN?

Or: just keep going farther out into Queens until you find a nice place that's suitable for a big dog.

If you are renting, try Peter Cooper or Stuytown. Lots of people from the UN there, and lots of dogs and kids.

Williamsburg, Brooklyn: my buddy takes the ferry, which drops him off directly next to the UN. He says its the best commute he's ever had and really low stress.

What is your budget and what to you is a reasonable commute? There are nice neighborhoods within walking distance but you can't afford them on a U.N. salary...
