Experience with Lab School or Mclean School?

Anonymous
We have a son currently in the public school system (Mclean) who has learning disabilities and we are considering plaing him in a private school. Has anyone on the board had experience with the Lab School in DC or the McLean School in Potomac? Any information would be extremely helpful!! Thanks !

A friend just put her son in the Lab School - and they love it. He has a severe hyperactivity disorder, and no school has been able to help him except the Lab School.

I think their public school district may be paying for part of his tuition? I'm not sure how that works.

Good luck to you!

I have a friend who did her student teaching at The Lab School for her masters and she speaks very highly of the school.

I have a friend whose daughter is graduating from McLean this year- They have been very happy. She has some learning disabilities, but nothing too too serious...

That said, I think the Lab School has more resources (going from what I've heard.) I think the best thing to do is to take a look at both schools and go from there.

Good luck to you!

My daughter is graduating this school year from The Lab. She started there with their summer school program before entering the 7th grade. Attending the Lab School has been a remarkable experience for her and for us as a family. She is leaving this school a more confident young lady. She has some mild language issues and The Lab has been able to teach her strategies that work best for her to learn. We live a good distance away but it has been worth the drive - just to see her confidence and self esteem grow. I highly recommend this school. It has been a blessing for us.
