Private & Independent Schools
| We have a son currently in the public school system (Mclean) who has learning disabilities and we are considering plaing him in a private school. Has anyone on the board had experience with the Lab School in DC or the McLean School in Potomac? Any information would be extremely helpful!! Thanks ! |

A friend just put her son in the Lab School - and they love it. He has a severe hyperactivity disorder, and no school has been able to help him except the Lab School.
I think their public school district may be paying for part of his tuition? I'm not sure how that works. Good luck to you! |
| Thanks so much!! Anyone else? |
| a colleague's daughter went to a summer program at the lab school and really liked it, they were very happy with the program, teachers. |

| I have a friend who did her student teaching at The Lab School for her masters and she speaks very highly of the school. |

I have a friend whose daughter is graduating from McLean this year- They have been very happy. She has some learning disabilities, but nothing too too serious...
That said, I think the Lab School has more resources (going from what I've heard.) I think the best thing to do is to take a look at both schools and go from there. Good luck to you! |
| My daughter is graduating this school year from The Lab. She started there with their summer school program before entering the 7th grade. Attending the Lab School has been a remarkable experience for her and for us as a family. She is leaving this school a more confident young lady. She has some mild language issues and The Lab has been able to teach her strategies that work best for her to learn. We live a good distance away but it has been worth the drive - just to see her confidence and self esteem grow. I highly recommend this school. It has been a blessing for us. |
