My daughter is small for her age (11). I think the majority of the team will be ordering women's sizes next year, but her youth medium uniform from last year still fits/is roomy.
Can anyone whose kid recently made the transition help me understand the sizes? Adidas seems to list every possible measurement but inseam. Are the women's shorts cut shorter than the youth shorts as it seems in the photos? And the jerseys look shorter too, so am I better off going with the adult XS so she fits in best with her teammates or stick with a youth medium which will fit fine for the next couple of years? She's about 4'4" and about 65 pounds and that fits with her general growth curve and parents' sizes, so I'm not expecting any sudden major growth spurts. |
Get to a local soccer store and locate the the brand. That's the best option for finding the right size. |
Yes where do you live? |
You do actually need to go try on the brand and uniform type. The sizing and styling differ from maker to maker, and from uniform type to uniform type.
The league or club will be able to tell you what specific brand and uniform "name" they are using. They also should be able to tell you the name of the local supplier. But, with the uniform brand and name you can call around and find a shop that carries them so you can go in and have your kid try one on. Keep in mind that brands typically will carry a uniform style for two years and then update. That means a club (and parents) will be buying new uniforms every two years. Usually that's no big deal as kids will outgrow the old ones. |
In general we have found the women’s shorts are a lot shorter. |
Yes, go to the store and try on the items. The non-women's sizes are longer generally, so the shirts were too long for my DD, who generally likes things loose. Women's also comes in XS. |
