Lacrosse shoes - how does this work?

Grade school kid plays on turf and grass and indoor. So far he wears cleats for turf and grass, and basketball shoes for indoor. But I notice there’s something called turf shoes for lacrosse that aren’t cleats or sneakers. What do you all do?

DS wears only cleats. At that age, he would wear sneakers if he forgot his cleats at practice. I'm sure others will chime in.

Turf shoes are a gimmick for the most part. Lacrosse players wear cleats.

My child wore sneakers on turf and cleats on grass until she made the high school team. Then I got her turf shoes. I still think it's gimmick.

Turf shoes are tricky when you're at a tournament and all of a sudden they stick you on a grass field. I'm sticking with cleats from now on.

I'm not buying more than one pair of shoes. Cleats work on grass and turf.
