New career at 50

Anonymous
I am interested in going back to work. I am looking for full fresh start and am open to going back to school -have a BA already. I would love a career that I could control hours and even work from home. Does not need to be high paying -just want to be happy. Thugs I am interested in-Health/education/history. Thinking maybe someone has a good in a field that involves one of those three and loves it. Feeling like it would be nice to be in a career that I loved. Have worked for years in marketing and just bored and have saved enough for a second act and kids growing up. I din’t Want to be the mom who falls apart when youngest going to college. Would love ideas and maybe someone else feels the same.

How long have you been away from the market? How fluent are you in computer lingo? Are you willing to do minimal wage/unpaid internships to start? Have you considered volunteering as an alternative?

It's not work from home, but you might enjoy being a paraprofessional worker in a library. You can also get an MLS in a year and half and get a professional librarian position.

As a librarian, don't take this advice if you (1) want to have control of your hours, (2) work from home and (3) aren't super committed to the field.

I clicked on this thread because I want an area where I ahve more control of my hours and telecommute as well!

If you aren't worried about money, maybe freelance writing (articles on topics that interest you) or writing for an industry publication in a field that you know.
