I don’t have a very common name, and when you Google me you get someone with my name in Michigan who embezzled $4.8 million dollars from his company.
Anyone ever been through this before? I know it’s not a huge deal but it’s still unsettling. |
Someone put my name on one of those sites to say BS about exes
Really sucks |
My two year old shares a name with a sex offender in Ohio. It is what it is. |
DH and I recently paid for a service that will go through and remove your name from the sites that aggregate your info.
Pretty sure the data breach with Equifax was the culprit on why our names readily showed up when we googled our own names |
Hahha has you must have sucked or not |
How much was it? |
The PP you quoted $200 for 2 people for 2 years of service. |
After my DD was born, we googled her name and found there was a woman with her name who murdered her mother....who happened to have my name. |
Sounds like a total waste of money since, you know... public records and all. |
I prefer my maiden name not to come up on the first 5 results of a google search. Sure, you can probably guess where I was married, find the courthouse, request my marriage certificate, but that is way more cumbersome than, say, typing my name into google and having all my personal info in the open and easily accessible. You can go through every.single.site and ask each one to remove your info so it doesn't come up on a simple google search. It's a lot of paperwork to do that though. You have to verify yourself, fax/snail mail a copy of your ID, etc. OR you can pay a company to find all the various websites that are will-nilly posting your info and have them do it. |
Not really. I had my name and age removed from google by contacting some sites. I noticed that job sites sell info the most. |
I am the only person in the world with my first name and last name combination. Had to get my teenage MySpace deleted because it was coming up in google hits even though I used a nickname (friend’s comments used my real name). |
Wow. I would be a little creeped out. |
That’s stupid, |
My daughter has an unusual name, and when you google it, she's the only one who comes up. I don't like it, but she's on social media, so her pictures are even in the images. At least if someone tried to steal her identity, they wouldn't get very far, because it's impossible to reproduce her entire name without being suspicious. Even her last name is uncommon. OP, obviously anyone who knows you well knows that you wouldn't embezzle, unless you come across as extremely shady, in which case you may have something to be worried about. |
