Anyone else experience discharge during pregnancy that has an unpleasant odor?
I had this with my first pregnancy and now am having it again with #2. I know it's not an infection. Any explanation? |
I was wondering the exact same thing! I didn't notice it with my other two, but this time around I can't stand the smell later in the day. It's something I'm not used to and really annoying. I already told my husband that when I go into labor, I hope there's enough time for me to take a shower before leaving for the hospital because I'd hate to smell bad down there while giving birth! |
I've had that too. I was told to expect lots of discharge, but still. I freaked out a few weeks ago and was worried about the discharge. My doctor said it's totally normal. Also, this is not expert advice, but I was told that white discharge is normal, clear liquid may not be. Smelly discharge is normal (and hey, as long as you said it's an icky question, I will give TMI and say that my best comparison is that it smells sort of like post-sex fluid, etc.), and a friend told me that amniotic fluid smells almost chemical or like chlorine. |
Thanks ladies--Now I don't feel so disgusting.

Don't worry--I change my panties twice a day to try and fend this off--also remember our sense of smell is heightened so it makes this goo worse! |
Yeah - it is gross! One of those things that no one tells you! I had it too! It goes away after birth (well after you finish with bleeding - another issue no one tells you about!) 4 weeks for me - fairly light, but not welcome! |
Ugh-I'm newly pregnant with my 2nd and I TOTALLY FORGOT about this. It's coming back to me now, I could not live without panty liners for my 1st. I wonder what other unpleasantries I blocked out of my mind? I guess I'll be finding out soon...
I guess it's time for a Costco run for me. |
