Game of Thrones

If you are at all familiar with English history and know who William Marshal is (considered the greatest knight who ever lived), when William was a boy he was a hostage of Stephen, the English King. Stephen told William's father he was going to kill William if he didn't hand over his castle. William's father replied "I have the anvil and hammer to make more sons -- go ahead." Luckily Stephen had a change of heart.

This did not ring true to me at all as a reason for Edmure to comply. Historically kids were threatened a lot and even went under the knife. As Jamie pointed out Edmure was a virile man. Kids could be fathered at any time.

+1 especially since it sounded like Edmure had never even met his child.

Except Edmure wasn't certain he would get out alive, potentially making this his only child and heir. So perhaps more a lineage issue.

This obviously doesn't relate to succession to the Iron Throne if something happened to Tommen, but it's a possible candidate for the myseterious "rumor." I know I'm intrigued; Cersei always has something up her sleeve.

In the books there is an insane amount of wildfire under the sept of baylor, so that makes sense. I thought Tyrion used most of it in the battle of the blackwater though.

Okay, what is wildfire?

He's been locked up in a dungeon. Does he even care about the wife and child? Jaimie promised him something else.

Remember from a few seasons ago, some old guy in Westeros had created what was essentially Greek Fire. He had secretly stored a crapload of it in some tunnel. Tyrion used this to defeat Stannis' army when they sailed into Westeros to attack.

I'm re-reading the first book and thinking that when Tommen is dead (cause you know he will be), she's going to wish she high-tailed it out of Westeros with those three kids when Ned Stark gave her the chance.

Or maybe not. She is a power hungry bitch.

This is exactly what the rumor is about, Cersei is losing it- while I don't think she will intend to hurt Tommen the prophecy is coming true and she knows it at this point it is inevitable...

It's actually a real thing historically: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greek_fire It was used in Greco Roman times, but we no longer know what it was made of.

Ok what was the point of the whole Black Fish story line? Just buying time / filling space to extend the season so G R R Martin finishes and releases his next book? I realize the character is in the book but what did his role contribute to anything so far. I know scenes are done very purposely but it seemed pretty pointless unless it reminding everyone who is sided with who.

Totally worth it for the Brienne/Jamie reunion.

Edmure was always a bit of a pussy, too. It's not like he was a refined gentleman of great courage. Remember the funeral? The missed shot(s)?

Edmure would've been easy to manipulate on a good day.

Edmure also sounded like he had rocks in his mouth when he spoke. Does this mean anything for Lady Stoneheart returning?
