What’s going on at Blackboard? Entire corporate headquarters office space is up for sub-lease

Anonymous
I saw a job posting I’m interested in with Blackboard in DC. I was doing a little research about the company, and I saw that they recently put their entire corporate headquarters office space up for sublease. Anyone know what’s up with the company and why they are doing this? Are they moving offices? Preparing for a buyout?

They moved their HQ from Chinatown to the Farragut North area a few years ago....is this what you're referring to?

No they just put their entire new office space up for sub-lease. The 19th street location.

This.

They have learned nothing in 20 years. The bloodletting continues.

This, BTW, was after a relocation to Chinatown from that location. I guess management missed Mackeys.

I’m not talking about their move from chinatown to the 19th street location. See this article which says they are putting their CURRENT office location on 19th street up for sublease.

Don't do it. Bb has been a mess for years, and Private Equity has tried their best but the company continues to struggle to turn around. They've been through three sets of execs in the last few years, and continue to cut headcount to hit EBITDA targets. That leads to a toxic environment.

I worked at corporate for a while, it was the most promising and most disappointing opportunity ever and I was fortunate to get out alive.

Don’t do it! There’s been A LOT of layoffs with relevant skill sets and long tenure employees. An old colleague was recently let go and in the past 6 months or so, over 100 people have been let go in just the DMV area (DC/Reston).
