Hotels Why So Stingy on a towel hooks

Anonymous
Ok we are a family of four in a hotel with accommodations for 4. Why is there ONE towel hook.

Rarely anywhere do I see more than two hooks/rods for towels anywhere.

And even rarer — a place to dry swimsuits.

Do they expect us to drop towels on floor and get fresh ones everyday?

Agree. And they leave the cards telling you to conserve by reusing towels but then give you no place to hang them. So yes, I get new ones every day.

I hate that. And there is always only one luggage rack!

because most travelers are business travelers and most hotel rooms are made for business travelers. Even in rooms with two beds.

Also most hotel guests are slobs and do not hang up their towels or put away their clothes or even use the dresser or luggage racks any more.

Well of course I don’t hang up the towels — not enough hooks!

Don't you hang wet swimsuits over the top of the shower or along the edge of the bathtub?

They drip all over the floor!

Totally agree OP and I travel a lot. And, ugh, we've had bed bugs from accidentally putting a suitcase on the floor.

And of course, most of them ask guests to reuse towels, all the more reason to install more towel bars/hooks!

OP, I completely agree and think this every time I'm in a hotel. The last one we stayed in had a big bathroom, with a vast, EMPTY wall where they could easily have installed plenty of hooks or towel racks. But no, there was only one towel rack in the entire bathroom, and one hook on the back of the door. Ridiculously short-sighted.

I never hang swimsuits over the hotel shower rod anymore because when I've done it before, they were left with black stains. I doubt the shower rod is ever actually cleaned!

You raise a good point. We were just at a high end hotel in the Caribbean and it surprised me that there was no where in the bathroom to hang wet bathing suits. A hook or wire would have been great. Instead I put them on the balcony, which, I can't imagine they really want you to do because it looks unsightly. But what else were we gonna do?

Although I've found that, even when I hang the towels up, the cleaning staff replaces them anyway. It's kind of pointless.

YOU ARE A GENIUS! I now travel with an extension cord - believe that was a dcum rec too - but i might start doing this even on work travel. Even as a single traveler, there are never enough hooks, and i almost always reuse towels. I like that these are singles and so easy to pack. Heck. I might get some for around the house!
