Why doesn’t DCPS care about safety

Anonymous
I’m a DCPS teacher and don’t usually post but, come on DCPS !?! My daugter’s School is closed,.
My other daughter’s daycare follows DCPS but they closed. Who made this call to keep school open. I value PT conferences but scared to drive in this crazy weather. Parents, will you show? Teachers, are you coming in?

I can walk there, so I will show.

Whether parents there or not, I have to show! Hearing a lot of sirens and trees shaking, not sure who will show now?

That's just a lull. It's going to last all day and even into tomorrow.

I don't get it. "Students, enjoy your day off and stay safe in this windstorm."

Teachers and parents: Endanger yourself.

Yes. This message was ridiculous.

OP sorry they are putting you in this position. I messaged my child's teacher and told them that I'd be happy to cancel if they decide to stay home.

I usually am pretty relaxed about dcps decisions but this is crazy.

This is op: I am usually relaxed to. I go in on the 2 hour delays. I stay late, but this seems like madness. I’ll drive slow and watch out for the trees.

Would you get in trouble if you decided to stay home today?

Of course, it's a work day for all DCPS teachers!

Now this ...

Wind delays Metro; VRE and MARC canceled
Metro said riders should expect delays on all of its rail lines. VRE said service was canceled as a precaution, and MARC said trees had fallen on tracks.

They need to recall this, can't have teachers stay at night also potential snow may impact those coming form MD and VA.

It continues to be hazardous to be outside. Please stay indoors if you are able. Limit outdoor time if you must go out. Strongest winds through about noon today. Latest special weather statement from NWS. http://wapo.st/2HWFzzi

Even if you use a personal day?
