Coffee, feeling like heart attack and panic

Anonymous
Friend brought back amazing coffee from Ethiopia. I brewed a pot. Normally have one cup of coffee. I had three in in a three hour span because it was so good.

Now feeling literally like I am having a heart attack. I am healthy, but heart is racing, I am sick to my stomach, hands shaking so badly I can barely type, much less work from home (as I am doing today.)

Almost considered going to ER (sounds silly, but I feel that out of sorts. Like panic attack.) Can't do it, because I would be embarassed to call this an emergency. I never get panic attacks.

Trying to drink water, but hard.

Any advice?

Not trying to be argumentative, just curious. How would this help her?

Honestly, you just have to wait it out. The half life of caffeine is 5-6 hours. See: https://www.caffeineinformer.com/the-half-life-of-caffeine

Potassium can help with caffeine metabolism. So, yes, bananas or avocados could help take the edge off.

Eat a piece of toast and drink a glass of milk and plenty of water. That's what I do when I'm over caffeinated.

Ethiopian coffee is VERY strong, my DH had the same reaction to it. Eat some Bananas, Avocados and lots of water.

Yep. And caffeine is a drug.

OP here.

Thanks all. I ate a banana, and had guacamole on rye. (Sounds gross, but that is all the bread we had left. It wasn't bad at all.)

I feel MUCH better, just still super jittery. Took the dog on a 2 mile fast walk, which helped a lot.

Thanks again.

Eat a largish meal. I'm really caffeine sensitive and sometimes I go overboard and this always helps me. Has to be kind of a heavy meal with carbs and fat.

I did! My husband had a similar reaction today once he got to work, though nothing like me. We both drink black coffee. I think this was just MUCH stronger than Peets, which is what we drink.
