It is if it’s contingent on getting job or not getting fired. |
OMG, you need to do your research. A&E has made a great multi episode series depicting how horrible he was, they rerun it frequently, well worth watching. It's also been shown on Vice, who do a great job of airing horrible behavior by many who escape it while living. |
I'm fairly open minded, but I'd never sleep with someone for a job. I wouldn't sleep with someone to save my job either. |
Clearly Harvey still has plenty of money to buy the best lawyers.
I wish he would rot somewhere hot but recognize that justice comes with a price tag. |
Good for you. That doesn't change the illegality of a boss requiring sex for job favors. |
Agreed. He's gross and I have no problem with him getting crucified in the court of public opinion. But to suggest that these women were victims of a crime and not just women with godawful judgment reflects poorly on women everywhere. |
Well my H is in law enforcement, and he gets calls where a teen and immigrants are required to give sexual favors to keep their job. |
If someone is calling the cops on the boss it doesn't seem required. |
this. |
It does when they did it to keep their job until somebody found out then told them it's illegal to do that. |
P.S. You really live in a teeny tiny bubble don't you. |
Weinstein is scum and almost certainly a rapist and I'm glad he went to jail but that was a bad case. From the testimony I recall, the only one who described actual forcible rape was Annabella Sciorra but I believe he wasn't convicted of that one. Her testimony https://www.npr.org/2020/01/23/799059027/actress-annabella-sciorra-testifies-that-harvey-weinstein-raped-her
O The others essentially testified to quid pro quo sexual harassment which also is terrible thing but probably should have been a civil sexual harassment case. |
I mean, I guess? But I do feel like there needs to be some reckoning given how many celebrities were active participants in the Playboy machine and E basically glorified him and those women (that, let's be honest, were pretty close to sex slaves). |
From a legal perspective, you are correct and I agree with you (as much as I detest Weinstein, your analysis is sound). Begin the merits of this case however, it has long been common-knowledge Hollywood operates largely on quid- pro-quo sexual harassment, particularly targeting younger actors. “Me too” has not eliminated this illicit practice. Question is: - why are we, as a society, continuing to support Hollywood ? |
Wait, are people saying that there is an ugly movie producer who uses his position to get sex? This cannot be true! |
