For the past five months, both my teenager high school age son and daughter have been obsessed with Macadamia nuts and Avocado. In addition to their already super healthy daily diet, they told me that they both eat about 3 avocado before working out and about 20 macadamia nuts after working out. They both had a recent annual physical checkup at the doctor office and according to the doctor, they are both very healthy.
I check on the Internet and find out that both macadamia nuts and avocado are high in calories and "good" fat. Is this something I should be concerned with besides the fact that they are burning a hold in my pocket because these items are not cheap? TIA |
Are these the goats milk kids? |
No they’re fine. They’re active teenagers making healthy food choices. What are your concerns exactly? |
Sounds good to me. Active teens eat A LOT and need plenty of healthy fats!! Sounds like your kids are making good choices.
FWIW my brother was obsessed with eating dried figs before hard exercise as a teen. He said they were the perfect energy food for him. Trader Joe's bags of mini avocados are great! TJs also has a ton of different types of nuts. Why not branch out and encourage them to try different kinds. (Each type of nut has slightly different nutritional benefits.) Bottom line: Teens are weird. And they eat a lot. Yours have combined the two into one. They sound efficient. ![]() |
How do they eat 3 avocados before working out?!? |
I am 35 years old and I also eat avocados before working out. I put 3 avocados, water and little bit of honey into a blender to make smoothies. |
![]() So you're drinking an entire days worth of calories in one smoothie? Wow. |
These are good 800 "calories". I also consume 2400 calories in addition to that smoothie. Because I work out every day, it is normal. I am 5"11' tall and weigh 155 lbs |
