| I have a Cuisinart nonstick waffle maker. It makes great waffles, especially if turned up very high -- that way the waffles are crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. So good! But there is a strong smell when the waffle iron is heating back up between waffles that must be the nonstick surface spewing its toxic fumes. So is it not worth using anymore? I've tried using it below the exhaust hood but it doesn't seem to help. Has anyone had good luck with waffle irons that don't have the nonstick coating? |
| I have a Krups waffle iron that doesn't smell. I would assume that a waffle iron doesn't heat beyond the temperature that is safe for nonstick, but of course an appliance can malfunction. |
| Make sure to wrap your kitchen in foil before making waffles. I’ve found that to be very helpful. |
I don't even know what this means. |
Agree. I use parchment paper. |
| The buttery goodness on the waffles will kill you before any fumes will. Bon appetit! |
| Are you sure the smell isn't from traces of rancid oil or butter on the waffle iron? |
| I liberal dose my waffle iron with olive oil |

| I just bought a Cuisinart waffle iron and it smells like the wires are burning. It’s horrible. I think I’m going to have to get rid of it. |
Someone explain please!! |
| I expect this the first month or two with any new appliance, but if it continues past that I toss it |
