Talking in a movie theater!

Anonymous
So went to see a movie with my husband last night, this couple behind us would not stop talking. It was almost a non stop narration..I felt my blood boiling. Several times I made a loud shhhhh sound. I heard them stop but then they would start up again, i felt my nerves on edge the second half of them movie anticipating their next "conversation". Even to a point where when one scene came on in Europe they started to talk about having been there! It was very annoying and I don't know why I did not turn around and say could you PLEASE for the love of God stop talking. I know many would right? What would you have done? It is so disrespectful!

Would've moved seats while saying something like "so rude"

I'd have got up and let a manager know.

This is exactly why I hate assigned seats at the movies. No guarantees you won’t get stuck sitting with uncivilized savages. I prefer the days where you could get up and move.

Haven't been to the movies in forever. Assigned seats? How is that organized?

these were not assigned seats. however there was no other seats except for first row which was not an option. so we were stuck like sitting ducks...blood still boiling!

+1 I'm pretty non-confrontational but I've had to go get the manager twice before.

If they won't/can't get the people to stop, I would request a refund for my tickets which they've done before when they didn't want to be bothered.

Alamo Drafthouse is the only theater we go to because of this reason.

I have no problem confronting people in a movie theater. I would have said, “I’ve paid good money to watch this movie without distraction. Please stop talking entirely or leave.”

I did this once ( pretty sure I wasn’t the only one). The person was watching people instead of the movie and when I went back to my seat, he stood up and started screaming obscenities at me. The whole theater pretty much got a refund because of him. Needless to say, we stayed for another movie so they didn’t assault us in the parking lot.

Going to a movie theater is low class. It's what people who can't afford theatre rooms do, so it's not surprising that it would be filled with that sort of people

I don't go to movies much at all, but I recently went to Alamo draft house (one of the new "high end" types of theaters) and they were super strict about tossing people. I would've spoken to a manager. people are such dicks.

I would love to go there, but I can’t get my husband to not look at his phone during a movie.

+1

Don't hesitate to throw your weight around with management. To hell with them.
