Are you running outdoors in this weather?

What is your temperature cutoff?
I couldn't do it this AM. But I hate the treadmill.

25-30 degrees is my cut-off for outdoor running. And I won't go if the conditions are icy - at 47 with two kids and a full time job, I can't afford to fall and break something. I also hate running on the treadmill, but actually don't mind walking. So I put it on 4 mph pace, add some incline and I get a decent work-out and break a sweat. Better than nothing, and I can watch a mindless TV show while I walk. I also used to swim instead of run, but in the winter, I hate the thought of swimming and being wet/cold at the gym, so I have to admit, I don't really do it...I just think about doing it.

I don't have a cutoff - love the cold. This morning wasn't bad at all - go!!

PP of above - it is MUCH healthier to run in this weather than our summer humidity. The air quality tanks and it genuinely is not good for you to run in. If the temp when I get up to run around 6am is 69/70- I run very slow. If it is higher than 70 - then I go to the gym.

Yup - I love it. It's cold, but after a mile I start to break a sweat.

I don't really have a cold cutoff, but have taken days off when it was super cold, and also super insanely windy - 20mph winds are my cutoff.

Summer and hot/humid are way harder for me. I turn more to cross training in the summer, but love winter running!

I am more concerned with the darkness than the cold this time of year. Even with a headlamp and reflective vest, I don’t feel safe running in my neighborhood (older Fairfax County; where there are not a lot of sidewalks and the streetlights are dim).

So I’ll run outside on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, but weekday runs are on the treadmill.

The treadmill has its benefits: I can still run if the other parent is traveling, I can watch TV, I don’t have to worry about hydration, and if my son wakes up early, he will come downstairs and play legos or watch TV or talk to me while I run. Also, there is less dirty laundry because there are fewer layers.

I do it and I'm not even a super hardcore runner. I mean, I run 5 days a week on average but often only 2-4 miles at a time. If I don't, I'm stressed all day. And I save so much money by not joining a gym! There's only a handful of days a year in DC where it's too icy to run safely. It's virtually never too cold.

I love running in this weather! Sure it can be hard to motivate to get out the door and I am pretty cold the first mile, but once I get moving I break a sweat and feel great. Much prefer this to summer heat and humidity. I don't have a temp cutoff, because it doesn't ever get that cold here. I will sometimes skip an outdoor run though if it is really cold and windy. I ran this past saturday morning and the potions where there was a headwind were pretty brutal, but i was also under dressed.

Same. Ran 3 miles around 8am. 3 layers on top, running tights, hat and gloves. First few minutes were rough on my face but I was fully sweating by the end. This is NOT that cold.

I haven't hit my temperature cutoff yet this winter! For me, it's more a snow/ice cutoff than temperature. You can dress for almost any cold temperature, at least the ones we get around here.

Yep, I was out this morning.
My route was mostly shaded though, should've taken the sunny route.

I don't have a cold temperature cutoff- I even run in the snow. I ran today at noon and it felt great. I can barely breathe during the hot and humid time of year while running so I mainly ride my road bike during the summer.

I ran when it was just under 30 degrees on Sunday, but spent the rest of the day coughing. My body was warm enough after a few minutes, but breathing in the cold air was miserable. I think I'm going to switch to the treadmill when it's below freezing from now on. Guess I'm a wimp.

I just started running in September, so haven't decided yet what my high-temp cutoff will be, but I'm sure there will be one.

For me, it depends on the "real feel" and how dark it is outside. If I have to run before work and getting my daughter to school and it's dark and also 15 degrees, it's a no-brainer. I'm running on the treadmill. But if it's a Saturday and it's 32 degrees and feels 32 and there's daylight, I'll go outside. I'll run in snow and ice, though having to slow down kind of annoys me.

I can and have run in temperatures as low as 4 degrees. But i really dislike doing so, especially if it's very windy. I figure those days are why some hero invented the treadmill.

Single digits are my cutoff. And high winds if it’s below freezing.
