Does anyone feel really rigid about doing Whole 30? The food control issues are giving me a hard time mentally. I don't have a history of disordered eating but am a bit of a perfectionist and this ruling out entire food groups is making me feel a little off kilter. I'm on Day 6. Should I bail or is this normal? |
Why not focus on all the things you can eat, instead of what you can’t? There are so many awesome recipes that are whole 30 compliant out there… |
I do have a history of eating disorders and control issues and did the Whole30. If you get the book, there is discussion on eating disorders that relaxes the restrictions a little. The general principles are the same, and it was good to reset the patterns of eating, so I benefitted. But the judgment and rigidity of zero tolerance is relaxed a little in cases of true control issues. You know yourself best OP. |
Thanks PP. good to know I'm not alone. Maybe I'll push on and try to think of this as eating guidelines rather than rules. (It's not the actual food that's a problem for me, it's the control aspect!). |
I do have a history of disordered eating, so I do not do diets that cut out a lot of things. I had to go on a pretty limited diet for digestive issues and it caused me a lot of anxiety. |
Why are you doing a diet when you disagree with the premise of it? |
Bail. Eating is so basic. You have to it everyday. It shouldn’t be this mentally difficult. |
This is how I approached it too. I found the shift in focus a huge relief to doing the 30. |
+1 OP we are doing Whole30 and we are not bothered by it. It’s why we chose it. Why not pick another challenge? |
