Fit bit versus Apple Watch?

Thoughts? Thx!

I'd get the fitbit. I have an apple watch my wife bought me and I honestly don't even know where it is. Wore it on our vacation in Europe recently for step counting, and sometimes wear it for the gym, but it is bulky. So, fitbit seems to be the answer.

I’m mostly happy with my Apple Watch, but you need to charge it every night. Friends who have Fitbits say they hold their change for about 5 days, so you can wear them at night and get sleep metrics.

I just made the switch to apple after 4 years with a fitbit. The biggest thing is Fitbit inflates both step count and calories burned. The approach to overall fitness is different between the two. Step counts isn't even a main goal for apple. There is a focus on staying active and burning calories which can be done without having a certain amount of steps. Fitbit gives you steps for dishes, laundry, etc because it's primarily sensing your arm movement. Apple watch doesn't and the calorie count and heartrate is more accurate when doing workouts.

Never had an Apple Watch, but I have a Fitbit that I put on a clip, so it doesn't sense arm movement during daily tasks. I think I would get too distracted with an Apple Watch because of all of the other features.

I wear both, lol. I have the Fitbit One, which is a clip. I lost weight using a Fitbit way back before they were popular, like 2010. To this day I still use their app to track my food. It’s very easy and intuitive. Many of my friends have a Fitbit so it’s fun to do challenges.

I got the Apple Watch series 3 with LTE because I am a runner and I never carry my phone with me when I run. In the winter I’m out there in the dark by myself (I’m a woman). So the LTE capability really sold me and it’s been very much worth it for me. In addition to feeling safer, I have a few weeks out of the year where I’m on call for work and must be reachable by phone. I’ve already used the watch to field duty calls! I do like the activity app but not many of my friends have an AW yet so it’s not as fast paced as a Fitbit leaderboard. I do like the Workout app. The GPS is as accurate as my Garmin was and I like that you can choose other activities for it to track.

When my Fitbit dies I probably won’t replace it since it’s now discontinued and I won’t wear two armbands. And I love my AW too much to give it up now!
