I've been teaching more than 20 years. I've been in a few different districts and the district I am in now, by far, is the best I've ever been in. That said, I'm completely and totally stressed out. This week, I've put in 70 hours. I feel like I'm spinning my wheels and getting nowhere. My schedule is terrible, I have a co-teacher for 1.5 hours a day who is like having a difficult child in the room, we're piloting a terrible new math curriculum and a number of logistical things are very difficult. On the other hand, my students, with 2 exceptions, are awesome and I have a relatively small class size. And outside the needy co-teacher, I really like my colleagues. My principal is decent, though controlling.
Any specific ideas of what else I could do? I have a master's degree in curriculum and instruction with an ESL endorsement. I've mostly taught primary grades. I'd need to make at least 50K. Thank you for any ideas you have. (specific companies, or places please) I'm in a near western suburb, close to a metra line. I need to get out of this field.
