I have a white friend who dates tons of brunettes, latinas, asians and black woken. I asked him what his dream girl was like and he responded that he wanted to marry a rich blonde chunky woman.

Is this a thing? A status symbol?

Sounds like he wants a rich woman, but knows an attractive rich woman is out of his league so he'll settle for one who is "chunky" and desperate. He wants blond hair so he'll at least be attracted to one thing about her.

Some people see women as objects/possessions- for these people, yes, marrying a certain type of woman is a status thing.
