I asked this question in the General Parenting forum, but it occured to me that maybe it is better asked here, where parents of older children (who may have been through this) would be reading:
Our pediatrician is referring us to an endocrinologist to evaluate my 5 y.o. DD for consideration of growth hormone therapy for short stature. She is only 38.5 inches tall, which is not even on the growth chart (the highest percentile she ever achieved was between the 5th and 10th percentiles but that was when she was 2. Has anyone else done this? Would you mind sharing what it entails? I've googled it, and it looks like its generally administered via injections. And that they have to be done daily. Ouch. How many times? How long does this go on? I'd just like to have an idea of what we would be considering. Thanks in advance for any information. |
| I have a relative who was diagnosed with Turner Syndrome at age 5 and began daily injections of growth hormone. She became used to the inections pretty easily and it's definitely helping her catch up to the growth chart. |
