I worked out today (and pretty much every day). I hit 15k steps. I ate my fruit and veggies and want my ice cream, dammit.
How do I open this jar without melting it??? |
| Put a rubber band around the lid and twist. |
Tried that until my palm was red, no luck. |
| Hit it with a meat mallet. |
| Whack it upside down on the counter a few times. Put on rubber gloves and twist. |
|
Get a slim spoon or knife and insert either under the lid to prise it open.
Alternatively, run a thin stream of hot water from the tap over the sides of the lid, not on top or on the container. The reason it's stuck is that it either wasn't filled properly or melted and refroze where the lid screws unto the sides. |
|
Use a knife to rap around the whole circle of the lid, then try to open it.
I couldn't live without our little grippy rubber thing that helps open lids. |
|
I just opened mine with a dish towel between my hand and the lid. It's tough.
Coffee chocolate chip. So damn good. Hope you got yours open OP. |
| I love those jars. The shape, the size...I love them. Is that weird? |
Not weird at all! When I first started eating Talenti years ago I saw a cute website that showed all the different ways people re-purposed the jars. Lots of creativity. |
I feel your pain OP, my last two containers have had the same issue! I really had to work at it but nothing keeps me from my chocolate chip. |
|
Spoon under the lid, as someone said.
Or just take the mallet and break apart the lid. I'm sure once opened that jar will be emptied and never have to be closed again, anyway. |
| Turn it upside down and run warm/hot water under the lid. Mine had frozen ice cream sealing it shut. |
+1 Did they get new lids, 1 size too small? |

I have weak hand strength. I've often relied on a jar opener:
